I've had this a year and its good. A key point is that the phone mount MUST be set on a level surface. A gently curving surface won't work for long. My mount has been stuck in place for a year on that dash.
You have to put a small metal sheet in phone case so that phone (Lg 60) will stick to mount magnet. The metal sheet can interfere with wireless charging, so I keep a copy of my Spigen phone case with the metal in glove compartment for when I want to use the mount (I only use it for GPS).

I'd be all over this if this was MagSafe compatible. I need something like this for my iPhone 12 Max
Get a Magsafe charger and stick the metal plate on the back, and then stick that to the magnetic holder. Been doing that for the past few months, and it's been working great.
I have this mount. I wouldn't recommend it. While perfectly secure, the arm is not very stable.
The phone constantly bounces. Not terrible, but not good either.

I have mine on a curved surface dashboard and it works great! Been using it for a year as well, got it on a slick deal for $7 or so. Install was tricky because of the curved surface. Had to let it sit for a couple days without putting my phone on it, then it was strong enough and I haven't had to adjust it since then. This is under the hot California sun as well! I've been wanting a second for my other car's curved dashboard.

You might have had a defect then because the arm on mine does not budge even a single millimeter. It's super strong.

Plenty of reviews state the same experience as mine. I'll request a replacement. I would say if your vehicle still has a cd slot, you would be better off with ones of those.

I originally installed mine on a very gently curved surface and intended to let it sit overnight. The next day I found the mount on the floor. I put it back on the dash - it fell off again. I finally moved it to a totally flat surface and its been in place ever since. Unlike you, I was installing mount in cool fall weather so maybe the heat actually helped you.
