I ended up checking out with PayPal using discover card which can get extra 5% cb, so 3% dell reward, 10% rak10 make it a even greater deal.
Did you get a popup from the app about the cashback not applying? I would have done the same thing, but found out my Discover card didn't have the bonus categories. Applied for one that did, but have to wait for new card to arrive. I'll be ready next time.

No, I didn't, I actually received confirmation email from rak10 about the 10% cb, so.... I don't think there's any problem with these extra discount

Interesting, I got an e-mail about cb being processed in 2 weeks, but it didn't mention the 10% deal. I'll have to wait and see. Thanks for sharing your experience, glad it worked for you!

I should have splited the payment to AMEX and Paypal to receive the extra discount from DiscoverCard. I did receive the confirmation for rak10 about CB, so I don't think there will be any problem.

Nobody should really buy this because of the 2060 super GPU. We've fairly often had similarly priced machines coming with 3070's so just hold out for those.
3070 desktop for $1200? I don't see any listed on SD apart from one in January

Even for regular use thermals are bad out of the box. Spend $30-$40 to upgrade thermals and you will get a decent machine from this deal.
Can you provide some upgrade option?

The email I got didn't mention 10% neither, but it shows the amount of cb is 110, and the dell order number, purchase date as well

If you have a better deal on a pre-built system with similar or better specs available right now then post it.
Yeah, if I were gonna get a prebuilt right now, I'd rather pay a two or three hundred extra for a similar system from ABS or Cyberpower. But this isn't a bad deal on a system that's fine for a lot of folks.

Toms hardware ranks the 3060 higher but gpu.userbenchmarks does have the 2060S I think 5 or 8% better scores. As long as you don't want overclock, upgradeability, and don't mind probably less than peak performance for the hardware, these kinds of prebuilts still do all the same shit almost as well.

I just noticed there are tons of variations of the XPS 8940. Just left Costco and saw this, tempted to pull because if not I'll never buy waiting for that lower price.

$1599.99 before tax:
  • Dell XPS 8940
  • Intel i7-11700 processor
  • 32 GB DDR 4 Memory
  • 1 TB 7200 rpm Hard drive
  • 512 GB SSD
  • RTX 3060 Ti
Thoughts? I bought an ASUS with 3070 two weeks ago for same price at Best buy but returned because it over heats and basically case was crap.

This Dell system would be a great fit, for home, office, students, coders, CAD, miners, video editors, graphic designers, and even casual gamers. Pretty much everyone except hardcore PC gamer enthusiast that like to build and maintain their own high-end $2000+ systems.

We have 3 of the G5 systems reviewed in that Gamers Nexus video. Ours have GTX1660 graphics cards, 500w PS, 16GB ram, and a clean install of Windows 10. All are performing very well and we have not seen any heat or performance issues. My kids play the newest games on them daily (Doom Eternal, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Madden, HOI4, ect.) While simultaneously having YouTube open, a couple web pages, and messenger programs. I feel as though the build quality was quite good for the price I paid. I could not be more satisfied with our purchase.

If you are just an normal person (like 98% of the population) that wants to get a good deal on a good PC that will probably never be opened, and the only real maintenance you do is reinstall Windows ever couple of years to clean the system up. Then this system is perfect for you.

Most big name (Acer, Apple, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, ect..) budget pre-built computers like this come with propriety cases, PSU, and motherboards now a days. Everything else are standard size parts (CPU, drives, fans, graphics cards, RAM, ect..) and can be easily upgraded/replaced/swapped.
If you were to build this spec yourself, how much would the cost total be? Can you upgrade to Windows 11 ( TPM 2.0 requirement)?

This tool can be used to answer questions #1 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HV2mt8
it would be probably be $850 with Windows but WITHOUT video card and support.

New video cards are hard to come by, an actual new RTX 2060 would be $900 from trusted retailers and $600 on ebay (who knows what you are going to get, fake cards and used mining cards are flooding ebay)

Of course you need the skill set to assemble and troubleshoot it, and then there is the fun of chasing RMAs for broken/wrong parts. You see if you do not have a bunch spare parts laying around you may not know which part you got is bad.
For example;
  • You assemble everything and push the power button, nothing happens - is it the motherboard, CPU, RAM, or PS? Or did you install something wrong?
  • Just as fun when you push the power button and it just beeps but nothing comes on the screen. You know what beep codes are? Did you count the beeps, tones, and pauses?
  • Also fun is when everything works fine and you install windows but it just keeps crashing after random amounts of time. Hardware or software, where do you start?
  • Or just crashes when you run a certain program. Now the really time consuming fun starts.

questions #2 - This PC like almost all PC's made in the last 7 years could easily run Windows 11 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/w...ifications
