I wouldnt go that far, but I do agree that Klipsch's reference series is a bit on the entry level end.

If you want solid audio products, Klipsch reference premier speakers are the way to go, designated by RP in the product name.

Simply outclasses reference series in every single way.

No, you bought R-41/R-14, not the R-51/R-15 model

Bright as 🌞. A little better than R41m that I have. I just took these back today. I think I want some Emotivas B1 +.

I only speakers. I purchased them from Best Buy last Christmas for the same price. I have thoroughly enjoyed them. They are a bit bright but adding a Subwoofer rounds out the sound perfectly.

Just get something like the klipsch r-41sa and mount on wall near ceiling. Matches these and most people agree its better than setting them on top of the bookshelf speakers to bounce the sound off the ceiling.

R14m is a very weak model to use as bookshelf unless use as satellite. Material and construction problems it is.

Well you have to understand we all define good and bad differently, not to mention words we use to describe what we are listening to, so you will get many opposing opinions.

In my experience your "7.1" or "Atmos Affect" setup is only as good as your core(5.1) setup.

Depending on what you have now, I would recommend building/upgrading to a good 5.1 setup 1st before moving up a 7.1 or Atmos affect one.

If you have a good one(5.1) already and ready to move up my suggestion would be look into Klipsch's PRO 160/180 in ceiling model and see if you can place them following Dolby's overhead 5.1.4 setup.

If you can't and still feel the need to upgrade, consider going to 7.1 following the suggested placement with the same speaker you have as your surrounds.

Placement is one of the critical things needed in getting the best performance out of your setup.

The SA model is an alternative for people that can't or won't do in ceiling, placement & angle is important for best performance which often is a big challenge in the average home.

In the end, performance will very widely from person to person with them.

I'm planing to start a 5.1 build for my apartment living room. Mostly for movies and then music. I'm coming from a vizio sound bar, so no experience with HTs. My options are,

1. Start with these (51m) as LR and then build from there. Potentially add the 41m as surround.
2. Do all the 4 speakers with 41m
3. Start with 51m or 41m as LR and then add the 5.1 theatre pack once the $290 deal comes back
4. Just go with the klipsch theatre pack 5.1 alone.
5. Go with the jamo 5.0 for around $220 and then add a sub.

I'm not an audiophile looking for a "natural/flat" response, so I'm thinking I should be fine with the klipsch sound signature. Inputs are greatly appreciated, I know this post is more of a reddit audiophile post, but I'm afraid to ask there as I might be sent into a rabbit hole and then end up spending my entire budget on just the front speakers lol 😀. So fellow Slickdealers , please share your inputs. TIA.

Agreed with other posters, if your looking for decent bass you'll want to consider a subwoofer. That said, these speakers and a 10" sub, you can get decent audio for around $350.
