It's not the best option, with stupid MacOs you really need to have 4k to be able to get a crisp picture (which would be effectively 1080p), but if you can't afford one, it's probably one of the best options for macbooks.
I have this one and 4k 27 LG, being able to run Dell at 2k natively is a plus, but the image quality is not perfect.
If you're gonna use it for Windows, it's a GREAT monitor if you don't plan to use for gaming for the majority of the time.
Office use/media consumption - 10 out of 10, would recommend
Out of curiosity, what makes this monitor not a good choice for gaming? I would mainly be playing single player and non-competitive multiplayer, but mainly need it for office use. Could this work for that scenario?
"Gamers" typically buy 144hz+ now, so they all say anything less isn't good for gaming. Honestly, if you have no intention of playing multiplayer fps games (or even if you do and don't care about being competitive) this monitor will probably be great.
I bought this monitor for my work from home office months ago and absolutely love it. It doesn't feel quality, but the picture and brightness are actually great for the price. I'm thinking about buying another as the second monitor on my gaming PC since my new GPU doesn't have a dvi port for my old 30" lg 3000h.
I own this monitor. I use it as a second monitor to supplement my 32" Dell gaming monitor. It works great for that purpose. It does get very bright in my relatively dark room, so I use it turned most of the way down.
If you buy it, you will need to go into your settings on the computer to enable the 75Hz refresh rate (it will default to 60). While it doesn't make a huge difference, the additional 15Hz is noticeable, especially for scrolling up/down pages.
Thanks!
What happens when you have a 4k monitor with Mac, it's showing the picture similar to 1080p display, but instead of 1 pixels, there are 4, which increases picture quality.
However, if you're running true 4k, everything is way to small.
It's actually funny how Windows is soo much better when it comes to external monitors. Text crispness, multiwindow workflow (ie arranging windows in different positions with keyboard shortcuts natively) is soo much better. Plus they have the ability to increase the size of the UI elements (icons and text), while still utilizing 4k real estate.
Macs can't do it
