It's actually good to have a backup and at this price.....

I just jumped in to the deal and wasn't sure if two of this would give me a free shipping. I got a text msg this morning that they are preparing to ship it.
For those considering Craftsman Power Tools, since the Stanley Tool take-over I've found it extremely hard (and frustrating) to get Warranty Service. I bought one of those Craftsman 60 Volt Cordless Leaf Blowers (listed on SD Last Year), which comes with a 4 Year Warranty (Blower, Charger, & Battery). So when my unit died after some 5 months of very light use I was extremely surprised with Craftsman's ineptitude (e.g. "don't make this unit any more", "how about a much lesser performing 20 Volt Unit instead", etc.); for which I requested a refund in January 2021. I still haven't received my refund, despite contacting these special people some twenty times now (receiving assurances they were working on it). Craftsman service is now horrendous, and I'm being generous. Candidly, I 'd avoid Craftsman Power Tools at all costs...
Does anyone have a list of these to look for? I was disappointed I missed out on the brushless impact driver + drill + 2 battery pack for $120 but then I found the drill + 2 batteries and then the impact driver separately for less. Also the heat gun for $40 and the battery -> USB adapter for $6. There was a post awhile ago with links for all of these but they've reused the item numbers for other items so all the links in that post are wrong and if you do find a working link it's Online Only at full price even if a store still has them in stock. The Lowes I found the USB adapter in had marked all the other discontinued tools back up to full retail price in-store. Our local one still had a few of the brushless drill + batteries in-store for $66 but picking the store online shows $159 and Not Carried In Stores. I saw a saw + drill + 2 batteries kit in clearance but it was $200 so that's not much of a deal at all. For awhile the brushless hammer drill + 2 batteries was slowly dropping and if it had hit $50 I would have gotten it just for the batteries but it looked like it went back up to $159.
I didn't know about any of these deals but lucked into my local store having the $159 brushless non hammer drill, 2 batt and charger for $48. I was able to place the order online miraculously, but it is supposed to be shipped to store from distribution. All of the other items and stores seem to not allow online ordering- I just happened to find one item in one store that did. Now that store is back to normal price. It's seems like luck that is rare unless it was a glitch that just got fixed. I'm curious how long these have been on clearance or if stores are just adding them as clearance at different times until OOS and then just have the listed at full price. If they've been clearance nationwide for a month then I might as well give up.

The item you referenced ((Item #1056458 Model #CMCD720D2 (if I'm not mistaken)) has been going on clearance at a variety of stores since mid May. For me, this current post has been going clearance for the past three weeks or so locally at 2 stores then went nationally. Not all stores will clearance items at the same time if they clearance at all. If you "give up" you are less likely to find the deal you're looking for. Case in point Item #1045298 Model #CMCF900B has been nationally on clearance since around Nov/Dec 2020. No store had any stock. This past May I found one at Lowe's top shelf stock @ $21.42.

That's what I figured. Don't know why I sounded so defeatist - full disclosure, I'll spend an ungodly number of hours tracking these types of deals down. I've already searched a few hundred zip codes. CMCD720D2 was the one I scored. The other one I'm looking for since tool-only impact in OP is OOS all around me, is the cmcf820d2, the one with 2 batteries. Of all the zip codes I searched there was one store that happened to be near me with it for $49. The rest of the region showed it as $169. It was limited stock, with none available but today it's back to full price (still limited). It makes me wonder if when the store's inventory truly goes to qty 0, the prices goes back full.
