Costco has the LEM Maxvac Chamber Vacuum Sealer for $599.99 online and in very limited numbers in some stores. Ships for free (weighs 85lbs).

This sells for $999.99 directly from LEM who often has 20% off coupons, however they charge 7% merch total for shipping so this would be $856 shipped to compare.

Chamber Vacuum Sealers are great for liquids and liquid/rich foods and the bags are much cheaper than a traditional suction vacuum sealer. If you don't already want one, you probably don't need one.

I believe they are pretty similar in spec. For $400+ less than the VacMaster and Costco guarantee, it heavily tips the scales.

I've always wanted one of these. But was hoping to find a used one somewhere for less. Damn apt is so small. Don't know where to even put this.

I can attest the small Foodsaver ones are poor at sealing liquids. It's not worth $500 to seal liquids for me, but I'll TU this deal.

I bought this at costco last year when they had it. Has been great. We sous vide quite a bit and this has been a perfect tool. Bags are available that can handle any cooking temperature range so we can freeze food ready for sous vide with marinade and dump it straight into the water bath. We do the same for cooked foods and defrost/reheat in the water bath quickly.
I've seen other chamber vacs close to this price occasionally but I wanted the costco warranty.

One key note for anyone who is considering this. Anything put into the container must be room temp or cooler - if you put hot items in to seal, they will explode when the vacuum is pulled. That's a basic physics problem for chamber sealers, not unique to this unit. When I have something I want to seal that I'm not sure is cool enough, I just watch the process carefully and push the stop button if the bag is expanding too much.

Like the Vacmaster 215, I'm guessing this won't fit on a kitchen countertop if you have upper cabinets because there is not enough overhead clearance for the lid to go up?

Also, anyone know if you can buy parts for this through LEM or elsewhere so its repairable after the warranty is up? Checked the LEM website and didn't see any parts listing.

You are correct that this will not be useable under the top cabinets. I haven't looked into spare parts.

To answer my own question, I sent an email to LEM support and asked if parts are available for this machine even though I didn't see any listed on their website. They said they are, and that they have hundreds of parts available if you call, but they aren't listed on the website. So that's a good sign that this machine is repairable after the warranty and that, after the warranty, you don't have to throw the whole thing out if one thing goes bad on it.

Mine got delivered today. Was nice to see UPS literally roll the box end-over-end up my driveway. Will unbox later and hopefully it works.
