Just saying if I flew into SFO I would get out of the city as quick as I could. Wine country to the north or the Central Coast down to Monterey would probably be better. San Francisco was once a great city, been there 3 times, once on a cruise ship, but wouldn't go back. Can't be good if a lot of the Target stores in the city are closing at 6:00 p.m. now and the Walgreens are locking up everything including toiletries. But that is a good price if you could stand flying on United. Had a great experience flying coach a few years ago on TAP Portugal from MIA to LIS.

Actual Bay Area local here too - I split my flights between SJC and SFO and never had weather delay issues out of SFO. I'm not saying it never happens, but the original message about needing 4-5 hours of cushion for weather delays is closer to paranoia than it is reality. I'm guessing this guy flew through SFO once in his entire life, experienced one bad delay, and now thinks 4-5 hour weather delays are the norm.

According to the stats, weather is only about 20% of the cause of delay.
