It's seasonal, not retiring, and they always max production it for the Christmas season. With factories getting close to back to normal and the shipping lanes getting better each month, it's doubtful this particular set is going to be scarce for the holidays.

This set came out in 2019 and it is projected to be retired after this holiday season. Each winter village set only sells for one or two years before being retired, and they come out with a new one each year.
This set has been sold out for most of the past year. Don't pass up a chance to grab it now before it's sold out again and then retired.

Backorder was still up an hour ago when I ordered two. Got a couple freebies as well and double VIP points. It's a solid deal.

I usually wait for things to go on sale, but will make exceptions if it's a set I really want, like this one.

Same here, this was a set I've been wanting- added $50 in other items on my wishlist in order to get the Free Charles Dickens and Mini Adidas set, plus the double points makes it a decent deal.

Don't worry that still happens, if my kids are any indication. The instruction box builds stay that way for maybe a week at most, then they tear'em apart and build something entirely new from their imagination. They even have build parties where friends sit around the tub of legos and build something for a themed adventure they come up with for that day.
