You're pretty far off. I knew an owner of 2 subways in San Diego. They already sold because of how Fk'd the company is and how they treat owners. Promotional Pricing across the board is the same for all franchises. How is that fair when cost of living here is twice what it is other places. Footlong's cost $2-$3 for just the ingredients (you have to order all their prepackaged crap), you add in all the other bs (hourly wages, rent, $0.60 royalty per sandwich, insurance workers comp, etc.) and you're losing money when selling at $5 each. FACT
Yup. Thats what I read also. In fact they said the actual owners of the company make most of their money just selling franchises. That's why you see so many subways so close to each other. Also I believe when you buy a franchise you have to buy all your supplies from them which is another way they make money. So they don't make money from the 5 dollar foot longs or the bogo. Thats why most stores won't participate

How much is a pound is a pound of meat when you own the place that turns animals into lunch meat?

It doesn't cost much per sandwich for them. Less than $1 or less per 12 inch seems like the price I would imagine they cost if they give out b1g1. They always have coupons, alot of the time there are b1g1 or close to it use the coupons it comes up to like 40% off or so.
On average, it costs much more. An average Subway Restaurants volume is $8k per week (pre-COVID numbers). Of which, food cost (dough, cheese, meats, veggies, sauces, wastage, the paper it's wrapped in, tissues, etc.) equates to 25% to 30% - closer to 30% for average volume store. Depending on the restaurants location and volume, labor ranges from 20% to 35%. Rent and other overhead is 20% to 30%. So you're looking at a 75% to 95% expense. And all of this is only possible when they are able to sell smaller ticket items with greater margins such as cookies, and drinks. So out of a $10 transaction, they make anywhere from $0.50 to $2.50. Subway is not what is used to be, hence you have to scale the business and own multiple units to really see a decent profit. You won't find many single unit owners these days. Those who bought Subway restaurants pre-2000's made a considerable amount. Hasn't been the same since 2010's.

I didn't know subway sold pizzas. Apparently it's just a personal cheese pizza but if you want to add pepperoni or bacon each topping is an extra $99.00 at least at my local subway

Coupon worked at my local store today.... As expected the sandwich doesn't taste excellent...but it wasn't that bad either.... 2 FL's for $9? Can definitely try occasionally.

wtf CA?! Taxing a "toasting"??? Bless your souls CA residents.
Wtf TN?! TN charges a "toasting tax" to heat food, extra tax if two items are mixed together, and extra tax if the seller provides a napkin or straw. Bless TN resident's souls too. laugh out loud

Couldn't pay me enough to go back to subway.

All of the locations around me had subpar ingredients, rude staff, and ridiculous policies. There were times when using coupons made the price higher than a regular combo. When someone else pointed this out, the worker just shrugged and said we shouldn't use the coupon. Definitely not customer focused.
