How does this compare to Costco Kirkland espresso which goes for 12.99 for 2.5 lbs? Worth it to pay a little extra for this stuff?

I can't actually speak on the two taste-wise but I doubt it. The Kirkland coffee I've had seems in-line with large brands like this and it's always hit or miss on how 'fresh' the beans will be from Amazon. At least when you buy them in person in Costco you know the roast date.

I don't think the roast date is written on the package at Costco.

For those who care or understand:

Blend of 70% Brazilian Arabica and 30% African Robusta coffees
My amazon order history shows that I previously purchased this 100% arabica [amazon.com] blend from this maker (probably based on another SD deal). I recall not being impressed with it quite certainly. I conclude that LavAzza coffees must be highly overrated.

If you have a Publix nearby, this week they're running a BOGO on Lavazza products (as well as Gevalia). Not sure how that compares with the Amazon deal, though.

I got this recently and do not like it. Strong chocolatey flavor bordering on acidic. Little crema.

Sorry but is this a pack of whole beans? And can I use it in my coffee maker with a filter for the ground coffee post grinding?
