Can't recommend this enough!! This thing is a dream for anyone looking to build a home arcade. Easy to assemble (<1 hour from parts to completion), quality components, full size joysticks and buttons with compatibility for almost any arcade game (Sam's clubs version includes pinball buttons!), great looking monitor and loud/clear speakers, easy to access I/O options (HDMI in, and 2 USB-A ports right on the front panel), tons of customizability (saUCE!!). As a video game collector, this has been the best $500 I've spent to get my retro fix on. There really isn't a better value (other than to DIY build).
I snagged one earlier this year for this price on recommendations from fellow SDers, and it's been awesome. I have three young kids (6 and under), and they love both playing with me on it or on their own. Out of the box, the system feels fairly sturdy and looks great. The builtin games are an odd mix at times with ports from various platforms (arcade, Genesis, etc.) and a surprising number of big licenses (several Disney games, Tetris, etc.). Where it really shines though is the ease in which you can add games (search "Legends saUCE" on Reddit or YouTube) to it with just a USB drive or the ability to plug a PC in to the HDMI and use a USB OTG cable to use the arcade controls with the PC.

Some items to note are that the default warranty sucks (so I'd recommend using a credit card which extends it) and AtGames support isn't great. I personally haven't had issues, but it's something to be aware of. The height is pretty good, but if you're somewhat tall (I'm 6' and it effects me), you will probably want stools or a riser (I got some sick Star Wars ones from Home Depot, A1Up also has cool ones). Although it supports some light guns, there's a huge shortage due to the ongoing chip shortage and no sign of them coming soon. Finally note the built in chip can only play through the mid 90s type games/emulators and you'd need an external PC for anything more modern (particularly anything 3D).

Overall I would definitely recommend it for anyone who still has nostalgia for classic gaming/arcades. I had been planning on building one at some point, but with the crazy price of wood, that plan had been put on hiatus. This has now totally filled that desire and probably for a lot cheaper than DIY.
Outstanding price. Easily worth $500.

Does anyone know how the joysticks on this compare to the AtGames Legends Gamer Pro joysticks? I have big hands and found the joysticks on the Gamer Pro to be on the smaller side... If the ones on this Legends Ultimate are the same size then I'm not gonna bother getting this and instead just setup up a TV via wallmount to play with the gamer pro.

Edit: The picture for Sams clubs version looks EXACTLY like the Gamer Pro... while some customer images show a black club-like joystick..

Edit2: I just watched the assembly video... It LITERALLY just looks like they included a regular Legends Gamer Pro with the thing so this looks like a waste for someone who already has it... Not to mention I already dislike how small the joysticks are on it..

I'm having this same problem. They don't want to fix it 2 months after purchase. I need to pay $40 and they don't even have the board in stock. How long will the next board last?
I'm not sure how common a problem this is, but it is definitely a cause for concern and another good reason to buy through Sams Club or other retailer that offers an extended warranty option or better return policy than the ridiculous 1-month warranty from AtGames (with return shipping paid by you).

That said, I have 2 ALUs (a v1.0 and v1.1) and 1 ALP, and all have worked without any issues for many months so far. So while there are definitely some people who have had problems (which can become real nightmares if you can't get the replacement part or can't return the unit), many others are very happy with it.

My understanding is that the LGP and ALU (v1.1) control decks are interchangeable on the ALU and I believe they use the same parts, but the ALU control deck only has 6 buttons per player (vs 8 buttons on the LGP) but the ALU has the 2 spinners and the LGP has no spinners. That said, my understanding is that it is pretty easy to swap out the joysticks or buttons on the LGP or ALU control decks if you prefer a longer stick or stiffer springs.

Sorry to ask for a spoonfeed, but do you know where I could purchase longer joystick replacements for the LGP?

EDIT: I think I found them, here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/223912099777

Is this thing full size? How is assembly? Does it hack easily for mame etc? I have an old 1080gtx gaming PC I would love to drop in this thing
Absolutely not. It's 3/4 at best. Don't listen to these shills

Do NOT get this for a vacation rental. It's cool but people will play with syrup on fingers or sand on their hands and it'll be broke in a month. It's a glorified control deck, and it should be treated like a $500 controller for your console. Don't let uninvested people on it.
I'd only do this if they are willing to include a $500 deposit that would be retained if they break the ALU during their stay. Buttons, joysticks, trackballs and spinners can be replaced fairly easily for a nominal fee, but if they dump a drink on the control deck it could easily fry the mainboard inside the control deck and this would not be easily replaced. Other things, like the LCD or plastic LCD overlay could also be easily scratched or broken by drunken gamers getting out of control. A real arcade cabinet is a beast...very heavy and very durable, but these ALU cabs (and A1up cabs) will not stand up to any real physical abuse by someone who doesn't care if it breaks.

If you are talking about the LGP, it's not the same control deck...the ALU has 6 buttons per player and the 2 spinners, while the LGP has 8 buttons per player and no spinners.

That said, if you don't care about the spinners, the LGP is a great option...basically an ALU w/o the LCD and cabinet.

I have 4 different arcades and this one is by far my favorite. The software included is great but the company also let's you add in your own games. Put a bunch of UCE roms on a USB drive and you are good to go. It has roller ball and side buttons (for digital pinball) and the cabinet size and monitor is larger than the Arcade1up cabinets. This price is the best. Just do it!!

I checked the game list and it doesn't have Galaga 1 & 3. Sad that I have to pass, my only personal requirement.
It is VERY easy to add those games using their AddOnX feature and a USB drive. They even have support for CoinOps (or CoinOpsX as they call it for the ALU).

Arcade1Up cabinets are 3/4, as stated on their own product listings:

"These machines are ¾ scale of traditional arcade machines. When used with the riser, controls fall at the same height they did in the original arcade cabinets.

Dimensions are: 45.8" H x 23" D x 19" W"

AtGames Legends Ultimate:

"Full size home arcade: 29.53 x 21.65 x 66.44 inches"

The AtGames cabinet is obviously substantially bigger and is close enough to "full-size" for any reasonable person to believe their claim.
