Hey Smegheads! I wonder if this will ever get a remastered edition on Blu-ray? I know it's just a TV show, but I'm sure they can do better than DVD quality. Until then, there's this set.

They did do a remastered edition on Blu-ray: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B079FLRGZR/ (US listing: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079FLRGZR/) Both listings are for Region 2 so won't play in US Blu-ray players.

Actually the blurays in the UK set are Region Free will play on the majority of US Bluray players, but since they are encoded at 50i certain players liek PS3 and most older Sony standalones can't handle 50i discs. LG, Samsung, most Panasonics, PS4 and Xbox, and almost all (if not all) 4K players will play it without a problem. Almost all these players will convert the signal to a 60i US standard signal as well if your monitor isn't capable. You just have to know what your equipment can handle, but I'm guessing well over 50% of Bluray owners would be safe and likely 75-90% of folks who have something beyond a PS3.

The series was recorded on low budget Tape (well low budget everything which is at least part of the charm) and not film so the upscaling of these is not that great. Since this series is less popular than Classic Doctor Who and the old Monty Python series, there wasn't a great deal of money put into a much more extensive and expensive project to make the old tapes look/sound a lot better than they really have any right to.

The included DVDs in the UK set which hold a lot of the bonus material are Region 2/PAL so you would need a region free DVD player for those.

The Amazon reviews indicate that the Blu-ray discs (all the episodes) are region free, but the DVDs (all the extra content) are region 2 / PAL.

The Orville couldn't figure out whether it wanted to be sci-fi drama or comedy and ended up being not really good at either. Red Dwarf is comedy thru and thru. If the Orville ever returns I hope it shrinks to 24 minute episodes and skips the Star Trek-ish social commentaries. Slim chance of that though.

I agree. It did have moments that were suppose to be heart-tugging and then random funny episodes.

Seth doesn't do drama well.

Add this to your collection today, unless you are a total, total...a word has yet to be invented to describe how totally...whatever it is you are, but you are one, and a total, total one at that!

Smeg! I paid like $180 for the set many years ago. But I guess I have watched it at least 15 times...

As others have said, this isn't the full series.
There are 12 "seasons" and a final movie that I consider Season 13. Season 9 was a movie as well which they split into 3 episodes for airing. Some minor changes, but it is possible to buy both versions.

If you really really want to dig into things further, seasons 1-3 were "remastered" ala the George Lucas style of adding BS and modifying the feel of the show which obviously didn't do well either.

Don't even get me started on the USA Pilot that's floating around.

So for the completionist, this barely gets to Ganymede let alone Titan.
