Got these for about $140 or $150 about 18 months ago IIRC. The headband feels cheap and plasticy, but…

Comfortable and good balanced sound. Can't go wrong at this price point.

Thank you. Bought mine three weeks ago for $150 and I'm going to try to get the difference refunded.

Update: Drop refunded me the price difference with an email request.

I have both and I would say the X2 are better for gaming/movies as they have more bass, soundstage is great, and you can slap a v-moda boompro mic and you're good to go.

The 58X are better for music imo as they are more detailed and have amazing mids, so it's preference, really. I always switch out between the 2 headphones.

I have more headphones than you can imagine and I use my 58x Jubilees more than any other set. They aren't the best overall, but they are easily the most versatile and they're easy to drive. The soundstage is great and with a bit of equalization they can even fill out the bass that some people find lacking. Of course sound is very much a matter of individual taste, so I understand that some folks may not like them, but you can't beat the price.

I sold my Jubilee and use my x2 for gaming. A bit more comfortable. I never tired my Jubilee for gaming, but IIRC, more people recommended the x2 for gaming, so I went that route.

I agree on the ear piercing 770s. I returned the pair I had but the 990s are open and don't have that harshness. (IMO)

Highly recommend for this price, but a few notes. I bought this before, but I ended up buying used HD600...

1 The finish is very cheap and plasticky.

2 The sound is very close to HD600, but if you compare them side by side, you'll notice HD600 is a better headphone, more resolution, more balanced frequency response.

3 Very popular headphones and you can sell a pair for more than $150 on Ebay. I did.

Returned mine 5 months ago. Was not happy with the cheap plastic feel. Also, very uncomfortable to wear for multiple hours.

These are my favorite headphone for long listening session as the sound is very reference/neutral and doesn't cause listening fatigue. For comparison I also have the Fidelio X2HR, they have a more exciting fun sound as it is more V shape EQ. The plug from the wire to the headphone are proprietary on the HD58X so the X2 are better as it's just a 3.5mm if you want to use a boom mic for gaming. I have the opposite experience with comfort. After I gently bent the headband to ease the clamping force I find it very comfortable and breathable for an over ear headphone. The X2 are comfortable, but a good amount heavier. With regarding to the HD6XX if you aren't going to be using an amp/dac I would recommend the 58X. The HD65XX is considered by most the better headphone, but isn't as easy to drive. I use Apple Music with my iPhone with the lightning to 3.5mm adapter and get 24 bit 48 hz which is well above cd quality. My ears aren't good to tell the difference of anything above cd quality.

I think getting the price refunded could be a bit of a hassle because there are no returns at Massdrop... So we have no leverage

I bought both of these used a year ago, $50 for the 558s and $120 for for the 58Xs. I kept the 558s, sound was extremely close. I only used them for gaming though. I have other cans for music.

I think this actually well encapsulates the Sennheiser sound in the 58X and 6 series headphones. It took me nearly two years to start liking my 6XX. I bought them within 10-20 minutes of the original drop's start and have set number 980 out of 130,000+ now. I just really didn't like them "that" much compared to my other headphones regardless of amplification. Over time, I started reaching for them more and more without realizing it and now I absolutely love them. They will never give you the chills or make you incredibly engaged and energized like some other headphones. It's just that everything sounds good with them. They are never harsh, never dull, just smooth. The clamp really grows on you over time too.
