Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Over-Ear Headphones EXPIRED

Not an audiophile myself perse, but asked someone about it when the 599 SEs were on sale for $100. He owns both, said that although he can tell the difference between the 58x and the 599s if he tries to, they sound similar enough that he doesn't have a preference between them for general use. He did recommend 560S if you want to spend a little more for better sound though. Having said that, audio is really subjective, ymmv.

I own both. The major differences are

- Jubilees clamping pressure is much stronger. I find myself using them less because of this
- 599s are more open, and thus a wider soundstage
- 599s have more bass, but Jubilees are clearer
- 599s are easier to drive and get volume out of
- Jubilees have slightly fatiguing highs whereas the 599s dont

For movies and games, I would always choose the 599s. For music the Jubilees, but not for long listening sessions.

One annoyance with the Jubilees for me is the dual wiring. It constantly gets caught on my chin when I try to put them around my neck.

Wired headphones.

This user probably has a massive skull. I have short-med length hair and have no complaints about comfort. In fact I can wear these with glasses.
