Is the screen great? No. But my 8 year old daughter loves her little Chromebook, and it got her through all last year of virtual schooling. It's $129! Accept the limitations or buy something for far more. I'm debating getting another one now for our 5 year old.

Yes, you can donate them and take retail value off taxes. Now, you don't get the full retail value off your taxes though.

I have this chromebook but would not buy again as its sluggish 🙄 If you have patience, its ok for occasional use. ChromeOS updates expire in June2026 - https://support.google.com/chrome...%2Csamsung

Hey it is a Chromebook. Celeron is far faster than chips that are often used in phones and other Chromebooks.

This will be about as fast an an I5 Windows for most of the things it will be used for.

My Lenovo Duet was fairly fast and it was an Android processor. This would be faster. It will also run an external monitor better.

New to Chromebooks. Does it make sense to convert to a Linux machine like mint? Or not enough memory? Seems like you'd be dependent on Google cloud services? Is a cheap laptop a better option?

I have a chromebook with half the ram and a celeron processor from 2014. It still runs surprisingly well. Chrome os is not like windows. Windows literally would barely even run on that machine, but chrome os runs very well.
