i just got this exact combo amex+new signup few days ago. I dont drive that often, but at least sometimes next month i'll get a 50c/gallon off for my gas

If your fillup is going to be $20 or more after discount couldn't you combine the 2?

That's what i was thinking. Should work if you are spending $20 after discount. Amex doesn't know there was any prior discount and they don't care either.

In many states fifty cents won't cover taxes on the gallon...
