Invariably folks here on SD will compare an affordable brand that is 10x less than name brand and categorize it as junk. I have had a swiss tech jacket that I leave in the car for emergencies that I got for $10 and it has never let me down. So to those folks, please go ahead and spend $200 for that North face jacket and watch out the zipper doesn't pinch your ego while putting it on.

I mean, they're good jackets for the price. Have worn some of the Swiss Tech stuff. Is it NorthFace or Spyder? No. Is it a thousand times more affordable and a good piece for these prices? Yeah. Thanks OP, in for a couple of each.

My SwissTech jacket is warm and very good. I disagree with them being junk.

I think those annual deals on Mountain Hardware is a better option for a standard hooded jacket. I had a few cheap (almost disposable) jackets incl Columbia, Mountain Hardware, and that MH turned out pretty good for medium cold night, concerts/shows, grocery runs.

I picked up a couple swiss tech 1/4 zips at Walmart for like $7 few years ago. They're my favorite and still wear. For the price, no question. Buy them up! Perfect gifts for the family you don't see often, haha.

Polyfill junk like this won't be warm enough to be worth much. Better to buy a down jacket on sale at Uniqlo, REI, Mountain Harware or the like. You'll pay more but you'll also get a jacket that's good for cold weather instead of cheap form-over-function crap like this.

Great deal, OP.
Walmart has great selection of more affordable clothing to tool around in and not care if they get ruined.

For example, I buy their $7 scrub pants and shirts to do yard work, paint, and automotive repairs. Awesome that I really don't care about the oil or paint stains. they must each have 30-50 washings, and still no rips (just stains).

These jackets will be awesome for cold days outdoors doing yard work or shoveling snow .. I picked up a pair of the snow pants for my son off to college. Nothing like lite waterproof pants for getting to class or a game of snow football.

Big Grin "Mixed Media Jacket" sounds like the factory in china just fills it with their scraps/garbage/recycled material.

...which is what most polyester seems to be anyway.

Probably better than down for places where it's wet.
