WARNING: There are two noteworthy issues with Boost Mobile.
  1. Data allotments are hard capped. Your internet speeds will not simply decrease - your data will turn off completely once you reach your plan's data limit. This is because part of their business model is to sell you more data during your billing cycle.
  2. While a GSM carrier using T-Mobile's network, you cannot simply activate any GSM unlocked phone. Your phone(s) must be on their approved list. You cannot work around this by activating on an approved phone and SIM-swapping to an otherwise technically compatible phone - you will have no service until you switch back to the phone you activated.
Fortunately, there's a similar deal with a lower per month cost and neither of the limitations above here: https://slickdeals.net/f/15064825

1. What's the deal?
Save up to 52% when you choose the 12-month plan.
  • Choose from a 3,6, or 12mo prepaid plan:
  • 33% OFF 3 months of Unlimited talk, text & 2GB LTE data every month - ONLY $30 ($45 value)
  • 44% OFF 6 months of Unlimited talk, text & 2GB LTE data every month - ONLY $50 ($90 value)
  • 47% OFF 12 months of Unlimited talk, text & 2GB LTE data every month - ONLY $95 ($180 value)
  • PLUS FREE 3-in-1 GSM SIM Kit (Includes SIM card adapters: mini, micro, & nano) ($9.99 value)
  • AND FREE Shipping ($4.99 value)
  • High Speed Data at 4G or 5G LTE (5G requires a compatible device).
  • After your 3, 6, or 12-month service bundle, continue on the 2GB LTE data plan or choose a new plan that's right for you

2. What am I being charged for today and how does this work?
You are paying for a $45, $90, or $180 credit to be used towards a 3, 6, or 12-month plan of Unlimited Talk, Text & 2GB LTE data every month. You are also receiving a FREE SIM card kit and shipping.

After shipment, an ePIN will be emailed to you. The ePIN will be used as credit when you activate your plan AFTER you have received the SIM card kit in the mail. Boost Mobile will email you a $45, $90, or $180 ePIN to activate 3, 6, or 12-months of service. At activation, select the ($15) 2GB 4G/5G data plan and be sure to use your ePIN credit.

You may be charged at activation for a plan if the 2GB 4G/5G data plan is not chosen.

3. What network does this work on
The New Boost Mobile SIM works on Boost's Newly Expanded 5G Network that uses a GSM Network.

Note: There are two SIM cards for Boost Mobile's CDMA nationwide network. The older version will be outdated shortly. All new Boost Mobile customers will activate on Boost Mobile's newly Expanded Data network.

4. Will my phone work with this SIM Card?
This will work on most Unlocked GSM Phones. You can check your device's eligibility here - http://boostmobile.com/byo

5. Do I need to activate it? After I get my SIM card in the mail, what do I do?
SIM card kits will NOT arrive to you activated on a plan.

You will have to visit activate.boostmobile.com to activate your phone, and use your $45, $90, or $180 ePIN credit to take advantage of the deal.

After receiving your new SIM card in the mail, activate it here - https://activate.boostmobile.com/

6. How do I apply my $45, $90, or $180 ePIN during activation?
When you activate your SIM at activate.boostmobile.com, apply the $45, $90, or $180 ePIN you received via email as the Re-Boost Card Payment Method during the Make a Payment activation step.

7. Does this work for existing Boost Mobile customers?
Yes, existing customers with compatible devices (for the Newly Expanded Data Network) are eligible

8. Is this available in-store?
No, this offer is not available in-stores.

9. Do you want to cancel your order or need additional Customer Support?
Visit the Boost Support Center or contact our care team at https://www.boostmobile.com/suppo...ct-us.html.
It is very difficult for us to cancel orders with this new system in place. We'll try our best but once an order is placed, we may not be able to cancel it. Thanks for understanding!

Why does IMEI matter for GSM phones? Aren't these just phones you pop the sim card in and you're good to go? Is Boost CDMA or something?

Boost ties the service to the IMEI of your phone! Once activated to an IMEI to can't switch to another phone unless that phone's IMEI is also compatible and can be activated in their system. This is obviously a huge hassle considering that their system is extremely picky on what devices will activate. I went through 4 unlocked gsm phones before one activated and then discovered it was the only phone I could use with their service. No other gsm provider works like this AFAIK.

After hours of fighting I was able to get refunded from boost/stack. You will have better luck getting a refund if you don't apply the epin. Good luck.

That's the ePin email. The wording says "first month" but the code will apply whatever amount is required for the term you bought. To apply the code, you will have to select the $15/m plan then apply your ePin code. I had to call in to do all of this and give them the code over the phone, as the phone's IMEI that I wanted to use wasn't being accepted by their system. Ultimately I wasn't able to use their service as the only phone that would activate was not the phone I wanted to use, and their system would not accept any of my other phones. If I were you, I would call them now to confirm that your phone can be activated on their system BEFORE applying the ePin code. Once you apply the code, it will be much more difficult to get a refund. Good luck!

I have a Xiaomi phone and they said it's not possible to activate but it's unlocked GSM.
Any idea why and if there is way around it to get it working?

How is the connectivity and reliability of the service. I don't expect top level quality, but is it decent?

Another GSM provider that works like this is Metro. Similarly to Boost, they were previously a CDMA carrier.

It may be possible to activate using the IMEI of a compatible phone and simply switching the SIM card once activated. Let us know if this works!

Frankly, independently of the issues discussed on this page, you get more (unlimited data) for less (lower per month cost) on the same network here: https://slickdeals.net/f/15064825

This won't work UNLESS your other phone(s) can pass Boost's verification and activation checks. If it does, then you can change the IMEI within your online account. In my case, only one of my 4 unlocked GSM-compatible phones was able to pass their verification, so I didn't have any devices to be able to swap to. Great price for service, but [potentially] lots of headaches involved; their verification system is VERY restrictive.

Do you not get service if you simply switch a SIM that was previously activated using a compatible phone to a phone that doesn't pass verification but is technically compatible?

Wow. I was staying away from Boost because of their hard caps on data - now this. Fortunately, there's the StackSocial/Tello deals.
