The Alliant Cashback Visa Signature card has removed the annual fee (previously $59) and now offers 2.5% cash back on up to $10,000 in purchases a month ($120,000 a year) with no annual fee. Once the $10,000 per month limit is reached, additional purchases will earn 1.5% cash back.

In order to qualify for the Tier One (2.5%), credit union members must have an Alliant checking account, sign up for electronic statements, maintain a $1000 average balance in the checking account, and receive at least one electronic deposit per month. Maintain $1000 AND a direct deposit every month? Ughhh just give me the 2.5% and leave me alone. If I was in the market for a high Cashback card, this would be a decent choice but not compelling enough when I already have a 2% card (which a lot do)

Agreed, sounds like a lot of hoops to jump thru for an extra 0.5%. And a bunch of extra steps if you're not already a banking customer of theirs

Say you spend 2k a month on your cc and you already have a 2% card, this would only be a $120 a year, not bad but lots of effort like others have said

But if you spend 10k a month, $600 a year extra would be worth the effort I think.

Since it says electronic deposit and not direct deposit, I wonder if a scheduled automatic ACH transfer each month would suffice...

Yeah, I would definitely be more interested in this if it didn't require a monthly deposit. $1000 minimum in account isn't too terrible. Although it would be pretty easy to just set up like $5 per month of deposits every month.

I just assumed an ACH would work, if it didn't then that would definitely suck.

Probably the best if you're a business owner with lots of monthly spend.
