I found the bass on Jamo's in this series to be very floppy on the low end, even with relatively analytical topping d50s.

You referring to the subwoofer or the towers and bookshelf spkrs?

if you look over in the AV forums you will see that these are a very inaccurate speaker. The subs are Klipsch knock offs (Jamo is owned by Klipsch) and their subs are very muddy and boomy,

Is it a knock-off or a re-branding? Is the sub an exact clone of the Klipsch?

Yeah what he said. I don't expect much from a sub in this range but I do expect clarity and decent mids from the other speakers at this price range. I hope you are only talking about the subs.

Although, I can live with boomy towers as long as they have decent mids and highs. Just off load the lows to a decent sub.

I have a 12 inch klipsch sub from a previous SD sale from last month, so if I wasn't worried about the sub. Would the rest of the speakers be a good deal? I heard great things about the towers

Enough to employ a bunch of people to manage and fairly complex website that has saved me a ton of money over the last decade or so.

in all seriousness, there deals are usually run through affiliate networks. The network that is the middleman between the retailer and publisher that typically gets 3% of the sale. The percentage that slickdeals gets top of that is between slickdeals and the retailer. For big ticket low margin product like this, I would expect that percentage to be 5% of the sale. Could be more considering this retailer is frequently on the front page.

I have this set but with a different model for the subwoofer from Jamo. They've been working great for me

Lots of good reviews for this line of Jamo speakers. Andrew Robinson has posted some videos on his YouTube channel if you care to listen to his opinion. These speakers aren't perfectly "flat" (aka accurate). They aren't for everyone, of course. Many people find flat (accurate) speakers boring. These have a somewhat "smiley face" profile...slightly tilted up bass and treble. Side benefit of this is that we don't hear bass and treble as good at moderate to low volumes (google Fletcher-Munson curve), so these might tend to sound more balanced at less than reference levels. You really need to listen for yourself. The sub is probably the weak link in this set. Probably fine for a bedroom or apartment. Jamo is owned by the Klipsch. Some of their products share parts/design/etc.

Thoroughly enjoy this set. Bought without the sub at $399 about 3 months ago and totally worth it.

Well here is some more to "read", EISA voted this Jamo package Best Buy for 2018-2019:

https://www.homecinemachoice.com/content/spatula

I've listened this personally and for what you pay it's not a bad package, the sub is the weak link but easy fix and will do until you do.

Yes without the sub, if I remember correctly it got down to $379.
That's not bad considering the sub is the weak link.

Looks like the deal has been downgraded from the S83 to the S81 center, and from the S803 to the S801 bookshelves. For $50 more, the other deal was far superior IMO.
