Because LED has a circuit that regulate current. It measures a drop over shunt / resistor to adjust it's regulator. Unfortunately this and capacitor charging causes startup current to be 2 - 6 times of running current or 2x the startup current of fluorescents.

No one mentioned fluorescent, now I'm more confused than before, can you stick with LED and incandescent? Or mention if you're considering fluorescent to be incandescent...

I installed all three of these, I really want to get some three ways with the dimmers. I guess I'll just order some three ways without the dimmers for the meantime,

The Lutron Claro series wallplates work well with these. I have one installed with three TP-Link dimmers (the same as posted here) and one Lutron Caseta 3 way dimmer. They are a little pricy, but do the job and look great as there are no exposed screw heads. I have been using these as I swap out dumb switches for smart switches throughout my house.

Here's a link to the 4 gang at Home Depot - not sure if SD will block the link or not - if they do just google Claro 4 gang:

EDIT: I avoid Amazon for these, as Amazon reviews indicate that people are receiving knock-off versions.
