I love OLED screen on laptop. I am just a little surprised that it is not 120hz. To be fair, I don't see any blur with OLED on XPS 7590. It is noticeably better than regular LCD for games and movies. I liked it so much that I bought another OLED 7590 for my wife. I never have experience with 120hz LCD though.
I've used multiple phones with 90hz OLED panels, and my Tab S7/S7+ both use 120hz screens. Higher refresh is nice, though far from essential. I care more about a panel that covers a wide gamut, HDR10, etc.
I love this laptop brand, I have the i7-9750H + 1660ti version w/ oled. And it's beautiful only thing I dislike it gets loud pretty quick but might be normal for gaming laptops? I love gaming on it, but i'm more of a console guy so I barely get to use it... but when I do, I was always mind blown how nice every game I play looks especially FFXIV.
They charge tax at almost all states. Also, the mail-in rebate take long times. If you can hold, wait till black Friday. There are nearly 3m NV graphic card would appear in second hand market. It will distroy current price tag even laptops.
Thin and light tells you everything you need to know. That 3080 ax-q won't help you any if this thing overheats and throttles. The specs are nice to have but in this design chasis are ultimately beat by multiple other laptops with 3070s like the Legion 5 Pro, Legion 7, Asus G15, Asus Scar 15, Asus Strix G15 Advantage, MSI GE66, etc.
Even if you are not trying to game with the lower VRAM 3080, the thermal throttling will slow down your video editing and emcoding.
May be one of the aspects but mostly what we mean by content creation are: -
Video Editing in high resolution, using professional grade filters, from raw video files or very large files. These normally require a very well calibrated and high color gamut display, powerful CPU and GPU and a lot of Ram.
Photo Editing in professional level.
Engineering project and simulation runs using various Industry standard software. Example can be MATLAB Engineering projects, Machine learning, AI based programs, different simulators
CAD based works which can be both 2D and 3D
Application development which requires compiling big codes, projects and even your game development.
Encoding works like Video encoding using GPU acceleration.
There can be many more but those are some standard type of works people normally do with these kind of Productivity machines.
Damn they're trying to squeeze every stimulus dollar out of us.
This is a low watt 3080, so it would perform similar to a full watt 3060/70?
No there's a vast difference between the rtx desktop and rtx mobile gpu and that's when comparing a full powered mobile rtx 3080 and not this weaker version. Most testing has put the rtx desktop version as being 50-60% faster than the mobile version. You're looking at more like desktop rtx 20-series of gpu power
Yea I hope people know that 3080 laptop is no where near the desktop version.
I think the issue is that some people are assuming that the difference would be similar to how the mobile and desktop rtx 20- series compared, with about a 10-15% difference. But there was only a difference in wattage of 165w (dynamic boost) for mobile and 225w for the desktop version. Now the new rtx 30-series is using 330w for their desktop version so it's going to be harder for the mobile chips to compete

What "content" do people use this to create?
Making video games?
