GO to best buy and look at it. It was the best screen by far in the place at any price range Wink I am getting older and need a 15 + screen or I would have kept this. 5 seconds from the start button and it was up and running. If you don't game and don't need 16gb of ram, the $599 version is a steal. PS> the student discount is as easy as it gest!!

Note that the price at Samsung.com is likely less: https://www.samsung.com/us/comput...qda-ka1us/

I see $719 for the i7 with no trade in and with Samsung Employee pricing. My guess is that .edu would be about $750. And don't forget cashback from a site of your choosing (~5% = $37.50).

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and am very happy with it. There are two areas that may irk some people that have been discussed to death here... The USB-C port cannot be used for charging, and there is mention of an "Active Pen (not included)" but no specifics. For the charging issue there is an $8 adapter on Amazon [amazon.com] that essentially annuls that, and basically any active pen (with battery) that works with later model Surface screens should work (example [amazon.com]). The Wacom Bamboo Ink 2 works too.

My own personal irk with it is that Samsung have published almost no specs for this computer. It's hard to figure out exactly what the USB-C port can do, and there is precious little info on expansion capabilities. From what I have gathered, the RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded, but the storage is removable and can. It's pretty easy to open: there is one screw under each rubber foot and that's it. In the box with the notebook there is only a user pamphlet that is short and useless. You can download a larger manual from Samsung but it's not much more use... at least in figuring out the unit's capabilities. I think the main problem is that these laptops can differ significantly based on where they are sold so Samsung avoid publishing any information on the hardware specs.

$719 for the i7, the i5 is $559 - both with edu discount.

I too prefer large laptop screens. I don't really have a need for smaller and slimmer - I just don't have a choice a lot of times because that's what companies think we all want.

Samsung lists a 15" for this model, but it hasn't been released yet and no eta or date. If the screen on that looks as good and the price is similar, I will be all over that.

TO Madpup and others...
I did put in the OP that people should check samsung's student and employee prices first. A lot of us don't qualify for that and this price is $200+ less than normal prices Wink
