Worse thing about this chromebook is the terrible battery life. Should have stuck with 1080p considering 4k is pretty useless in chrome os.

I own this and it is not useless in tablet mode with 4k resolution.

this looks like a great chromebook but i'm saddened that the i5 has caused this to run hot and lower battery life. I think apple has already spoiled people with the m1. Now we want good performance, long battery life, and excellent thermals. The only other thing i am disappointed with is the webcam. The pandemic life has increased our expectations of a forward-facing camera. This laptop fails to check that box too.

It's not useless, but a 4K screen is overkill and not worth the sacrifice in battery life. A 2K screen would have been a better compromise.

With that said it is a good deal, and I would have considered it if I had education discount access.

Great machine to run Linux on with native Linux support built in.

Also, can I format it and install Windows?

Edu discount is hit or miss if you dont actually have one. Most of the times it asks for verification and other times you can get away with it

Is that possible to lower the resolution?

So, an interesting read, but this isn't really replacing ChromeOS with Windows7/10. It is installing Linux, installing a hypervisor, and then installing Windows in that as a virtual machine?

I would think that performance would tank..

If apple made Windows OS devices that would be what the other 85% of the market wants right?
