duijverSo, an interesting read, but this isn't really replacing ChromeOS with Windows7/10. It is installing Linux, installing a hypervisor, and then installing Windows in that as a virtual machine?

I would think that performance would tank..

4k Streaming on laptops is really something most places would rather you not do.

Wow. I just paid $499.45. I reordered this at $349 and will call Samsung to see if I can get my other order adjusted before I end up returning it.
I had a similar situation like you with the tab7+. The customer service stated they don't price match with current deals. You have to return it and buy the one that's on sale. When you do return the Chromebook, make sure everything is where it's supposed to be or they might not accept it.

Is that possible to lower the resolution?
You can "scale" but that is really just a software based change. It still pushes every pixel which is what drains the battery. The only thing it saves is that there is less image for the video card to draw if you "scale" which may have a very small savings on battery.

$350.
I've bought many suboptimal products in the past just to realize that I should have just paid more for the best all-around performer. For example, the Pixel Slate i3 (2019) deal from Best Buy was exactly that. The screen was beautiful and the sound is good but the keyboard case died (known issue) and Google doesn't make enough killer apps like Apple. I hate that I sound like an Apple fan-boy right now.

Agreed but this would never be $350 unless it was an older model and they had excess inventory. It's not like a $500 device on sale, it is truly $700ish type device 50% off.

$1000 was always absurd.

Great machine to run Linux on with native Linux support built in.

Also, can I format it and install Windows?
It's more like Linux on top of ChromeOS unless I'm missing something (special firmware?). At least that black terminal background with white text will probably keep the battery life going for hours because of the AMOLED. Fortunately, simple development can be done from a Chromebook because of the cloud.
