Bought one a couple weeks ago when it was 140. I challenge anyone to find a phone of this quality for this price brand new. One of the commenters said it was slow. I disagree, it's running Android 11, and doesn't seem to be any slower than my Galaxy S10. For the person wanting to get back into Android phones, this is the perfect opportunity to get a flagship from a couple generations ago for cheap. Bummer that there is no headphone jack, and the top and bottom bezel are larger than the newer model phones, but that leaves good amount of space for the stereo speakers on top and bottom, they are better than any other phone I've ever had. Again, I want to point out that this is running Android 11, and even though it is not being updated any further, it's amazing to get Android 11 for this price.
Youre gonna be downgrading if you're swapping to this

Nope, got my Pixel 3 in near mint condition on eBay for $99, free shipping!

Go ahead and buy a phone outside of security updates!
You seem oblivious to the fact that you bought one that will be outside of security updates in 90 days. But apparently in your mind that's "lightyears" different, same way the Pixel 3 is "lightyears" better than the 2XL (still waiting for you to cite a review to back up that one...)

Go ahead and buy a used phone ("near mint" = "who the f*** knows how much battery wear it's suffered") over a brand new one, just to get an extra 90 days security patches (which are flashable if you're that concerned). LMAO.

yeah but that is the camera app, I mean just turning on the LED light without having to press the button in the notification drop down menu. One of the main things I use a smartphone for is a flashlight because it's normally always on you.
Yeah, I got this to replace a series of Moto's I've had the past few years, and the gestures are the only thing I think I'll miss. I'm hoping I can recreate them in some form with Tasker...

The only way to get security updates is to install a custom OS, and to do this you will need the unlocked bootloader. So no custom OS = no security updates = less secure. Nothing you do will insure no security issues -- in my experience most security breaches are not OS hacks, but rather users doing careless things like opening weird attachments, installing sketchy apps, granting inappropriate access.

If you're not comfortable with incurring any risk, either don't get this phone, or get the unlocked bootloader version and change your plans to include loading a custom OS.
Thank you

Bootloader being locked or unlocked doesn't really matter if you are not planning to install a custom ROM.
Thanks

Yeah for sure. Very good camera. I'm in tello too Smilie don't have this phone though but it's carrier unlocked so no doubt it will work
Thanks so much for your response! What do you think would be the better deal for the money? The Google Pixel 2XL or the Google Pixel 3? I think the Pixel 3 also supports CDMA and GSM. I think Tello will be going to GSM.

Where can I get a new original OG pixel device? I got plans for that. The used ebay ones have too many issues.

I call bs that you got a mint 128gb pixel 3 for < $100.

Probably a 64gb version. There is a 64gb difference and a price difference between the two.

How do you manage to get that high of a trade-in value for such an old phone? I was looking at the Pixel 5 when it was released, but a Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3A all had abysmal trade-in values (below $50).
It was a deal by Google last year when they launched 4a5g. Every pixel owner jumped on it I remember.Buy 4a5g for 500 and get 200-300 trade in value for old pixel phone.

If you are talking about the $90 Scratch & Dent Pixel 3 deal, then it's a tough call. The Pixel 3 still gets updates until October, including the next official Android update directly from Google, but it's really a dice-roll on the condition (internally and externally) of the pre-owned Pixel 3. I personally don't want to deal with Daily Steals (some recent deals), but since it's Woot as the seller that's better IMHO (owned by Amazon) and possibly worth the risk.

I'd personally probably go for the 2 XL with the bigger battery and full-year warranty OEM warranty (at least it claims) since I expect the SD 835 vs 845 CPU differences will not be that noticeable (maybe if you were gaming or something). I also don't think Google frequently updated their camera hardware, so unless they hold back software features from older models (#Apple) then the cameras should be comparable as well with Night Sight, etc. Besides the Pixel 3's refurb state, it's mostly personal preference IMHO.

Articles like this are also helpful, though some of that sentiment may be due to sales numbers more than the phone itself:

And yes, either model will support CDMA or GSM. I'm on Tello's GSM now. I wouldn't worry about compatibility with the Pixel. You'll need a new Tello (GSM/T-Mobile) sim card when you switch.
