I bought one of these for my girls HP pavilion gaming laptop last year it was on sale for $77 with a instant coupon. The drive isn't as fast as obviously any M2 nvme but it serves its purpose as a game storage on her laptop as it doesn't have a second slot for nvme just a 2.5". It is dramless design with just a typical SLC caching. Quality is very nice in a machined aluminum case. I'd recommend it for anyone who just needs big storage but don't have a second M2 slot.

HDDs still have their place.

I've been using SSDs by default since 2011, mainly for boot drives back then. I still use platter drives for anything over 1 or 2TB though. It will be a long while before higher capacity SSDs make sense for the average consumer/pro-sumer.

hmmm depends on what your need is? if you don't care about warranty (not that TEAM has horrible service stories, just that they are in taiwan and not much of a big presence elsewhere yet so your RMA will likely need to be shipped to Taiwan for processing) and just need a SSD drive for some games, this is as good as any.

If you want a little speed boost, this is probably not it. You should find NVMe SSD or a simpler regular SSD with DRAM cache.

TEAM in general has nice design ideas, but their quality control is subpar. You will get good or bad products shipped to you. For most beginners, I tend to recommend finding a SSD company based in their own country or spending a little bit more for a Samsung, Crucial (Micron) or Western Digital (but not SanDisk SSDs). If you know what you are doing with SSDs and don't care about warranty services, SK Hynix, ADATA, TEAM, Kingston are pretty good brands to find value.

Still waiting to replace my 1TB NVMe SSD I bought three years ago for $69. Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron stop colluding to milk the consumer at 1-2TB kkthx. We are ready to be cheated at 4-16TB.
