I ordered two from Costco on separate orders and one came as V1, one as V2 😒. Guess I'll order a third to hope to get a second V2…

I picked up the Walmart 2-mesh version of the X60 v1 [walmart.com] yesterday for $149 since I don't really need a 3-pack for my 3000 sq ft home.

In the process of talking to tech support, I learned a few things that rub me the wrong way:
  1. The TP Link HomeShield app keeps flagging the firmware as being outdated yet there is no available firmware for download. The factory version is all you get and they don't know if/when anything new would be available in the US.
  2. You cannot customize the firewall -- this part hurts. There is no IPv4 firewall configuration. For IPv6, you can blacklist an IP already on your network but that's about it. I've always used my router as the first line of defense. At least I can lock down my server using its own firewall, but what about home security cameras (especially if port forwarding is turned on)? Of course TP Link customer service says it's "impossible for someone to get past their router"... impossible, eh?
  3. With only one spare port on the back, I also need to buy a switch to hard wire the server and security system like I had in the past.

Am I crazy for letting these things bother me enough to consider returning it?
Is the w6000 the same as the x60?

I've been using that W6000 system the past few weeks. How do you tell v1 vs v2? It went down to $109 one day and then back up to 149. It's faster and better range than Eero 6 and even Eero Pro non-6. I think I updated the firmware when first installed, last week it had errors with one of the update files, now today it says it is up to date. Don't know what is going ok and haven't tracked the firmware version numbers.

If anyone has an extra single unit they don't need (say you bought 2 packs but only need 4 or 5 for full coverage) then ping me please. I need a 4th unit to cove a small dead zone and prefer to stay consistent rather than buy a wifi extender/repeater. Thanks.
