Ordered 2 last round and sent them right back. One was in great condition with a bad battery and the other was beat up with a bad camera. No way these things were tested...so YMMV, good luck if you order!

None of these sellers test used and renewed phones. It's like rolling the dice.

Can confirm, I have a Pixel 4a and can no longer connect to my work wifi for this reason. It's incredibly frustrating and makes me wonder if I should jump ship to iOS at this point. I'm guessing this will eventually happen to all Android phones as they get the latest updates

This is totally dumb. Any criminal or WiFi squatter could bypass this supposed security change by rolling back to an earlier version of Android. A security change like this should be done on the router side, not on the client side.

Pretty sure that's any phone on Android 11, not just this one. Also means that your work wifi is not setup securely/properly if there is not a cert to accept.

Mine is running lineageos 18.1. How can I check mine for this issue? Thx

EDIT I think I figured it out. I don't think I'll ever need this feature anyway bit it looks like lineageos has the "do not validate" option
The problem is actually under Phase 2 Authentication there is no option to select none, latest OS is forcing you to only connect to networks with Phase 2 Authentication.

Since PEAP states it is a more secure solution than EAP, this sounds counter-intuitive. I know nothing about the protocols, just did a skim about PEAP as it is the first I have heard the term. Maybe there is better now and PEAP is being phased out in security updates?
Will this affect businesses like Hotels, McDonald's, Starbucks, et al wifi sharing? I just cannot figure out why they would limit access to this (mostly because I am ignorant, no doubt).
Probably wont be a big problem for a lot of the networks you mentioned this is primarily used in big corporations and enterprise settings and some schools.

Google has said it anticipates pushing this security update in all future releases of Android 11. Luckily manufactures like Samsung have their own custom overlay so it might be able to hold back some of these changes. As of right now only Pixel phones have this problem. If they do this across all Android phones, lets just say they will get a lot of pissed off customer soon to be ex customers. My Samsung Note currently is still working properly and it has been on Android 11 for a long time.

Who knows maybe I will try that freedom phone.

I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea, but there are communities out there dedicated to extending the life of these Pixels (and other android devices) on xda forums. Personally, I like the GrapheneOS.

So fully unlocked means what?
An unlockable boot loader?

....
Never mind, scrolling down you may catch the one liner "Carrier unlimited"....

That isn't my idea of scratch and dent. But that is just me.

Unlocked for any carrier to use

Bootloader unlocking depends on if it's a Verizon (IMEI starts with 35) it's locked and if its a Google Edition (IMEI starts with 99) its unlocked.

Some people say they had a Google Editions last time, the two I sent back were both Verizon.

This is also a hit or a miss - one phone had screen burn bad and the other was fine.

The fact that people just started accepting flagship phones with no expandable storage will never stop making me mad

Apple started it because they are Apple and then Samsung and Google decided they wanted to be Apple

Stop it people!
