The dual hose units DO NOT pull the air to be conditioned from the outside! They pull the air from the outside to cool the condenser. The air in the room is cycled through the machine continuously.
Quite a few reviews state this AC disintegrates itself due to misaligned fan.
I believe most people are using Portable ACs because they have no other options.

Here's a mini split install from This Old House. It took 2 guys a full day, plus an electrician to run the 220V circuit and permits and inspections on top of that. I would guess easily $2,500 in my area. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2...aOI&t=195s
Nothing against mini-splits but it's apples to oranges.

Is this Midea on Amazon the same exact model as the Danby? I just purchased it a out a few hours ago for $630 after taxes. I liked how it's black but if I find out it's the same model, I'll cancel the Midea for the Danby and save $200.

I've had this for a few weeks now, love it. The app is great. Set the schedule and forget it. It is as heavy as a fridge though. Watching the little UPS gal on my ring doorbell try to get this up my 3 porch stairs was both entertaining and gave me anxiety. Highly recommend. Yes if I was home I would have ran out to help her.
Does it require a hose for draining water?

So a dual hose unit without actually having dual hose? Huh?

Interesting. Wonder if that's just a gimmick or works as well as traditional dual hose units.

Bought this from the post last week. I replaced a brand new TCL from Walmart with it for the same price.

OMG!!!! So much quieter, so much colder!!!! It's atleast 50% quieter, no rattles or weird noise the TCL had. This cooled room (14x12) in about half the time as the TCL. 10/10 would buy again.

Notes… very heavy.
Window adapter is much bigger than other models due to the dual hose design.
Bigger than my TCL by about 30%

It has a regular drain plug and a separate plug for running in dehumidifier mode that a included hose attaches to for continuous draining. The regular drain plug only requires emptying of full. I didn't empty my TCL with almost continuously using it for a month in Florida. So I don't expect to have to much.

I've owned this for a couple of months now and love it. Very quiet compared to an older unit I owned. Cools very well and the app works well for scheduling and remotely turning on before arriving home or turning off if I forgot to when leaving. Costco return policy made it a no brainer for me.

HOLD UP! Ok so I had my first and unfortunately I assume deal breaker experience. It has been running for about 5 hours today. It just warned me that I needed to empty the water tray. I had my other TCL unit running for a month and never had the tray fill up. I can only assume the difference is it's grabbing the 90% humidity air from outside since it's a dual hose setup, and since it's using that it's much higher that the 50% in the room the TCL was pulling. If it can't even last through the night that's a deal breaker. I'll do so research but it might get boxed up. Just sucks as my initial impression was so great. Frown any advice welcomed.

It's functionally equivalent to just putting a single housing around 2 separate hoses. There's no fundamental reason why this wouldn't work just as well if you can isolate the hoses from each other decently

It definitely sounds good on paper. I've got a 3 year-old Whynter ARC-131GD, 13K btu dual hose which works 'okay'.
If I knew for sure this Costco model would cool a good amount better and quieter, I'd jump on it. I'm on the fence. Plus I've got one of those $50 off $500 coupons further tempting me.
What's the $50 off $500 from?

...or it could also be much better at dehumidifying the air which is why it's drawing much more moisture from the air inside your home. What's the humidity level at inside? We switched to split ACs in every room but had window ACs before and on really humid days water would just be pouring out the back of the window units.
