Yep, I got this deal last year, with the rear handle. Saw is awesome, I was able to rip & bevel some 2x4x10s no issue. It is a bit heavy, but is widely regarded as one of the best high powered battery saws out there.
This is also the best value for Makita batteries, the saw is basically free.
Who knows they Home Depot has the same sales at least 4 times in the last year. I think Makita is trying to get rid of 5ah batteries so they can bring in more 6ah

I think they are definitely trying to get rid of them, and you are right, they bring back this sale quite often, last time the XSH06 kit was actually $177 including tax, that was an insane deal.

Yeah I picked up a rear handle for home already had a side handle at work.
Rear handle comes with the rafter hook but no rip guide screw.
Side handle no rafter hook but has the rip fence screw.
Neither have the rip fence and they use two different rip fences. How rude!
I have the rear back when they sold it for 250 with two extra batteries... Then this saw was on sale even cheaper with two extra batteries and I forgot to pick those up so the saw came out to about a hundred.
There is absolutely no reason to purchase any more saws. There is absolutely no reason to purchase any more saws. There is absolutely no reason to purchase any more saws. There is absolutely no reason to purchase any more saws...
update: okay I was repeating the mantra whilst I added it to my cart (you know, just to see) and realized it's not 100 off the 249 plus two batteries which is basically the same deal I had before. I was going to gift it to my friend if this was the case lol but it's not so I'm going to pat myself on the back for averting from this deal. ☝

FYI: The top handle has a vacuum port, and can be mounted on 3rd-party track (e.g. Bora) to work like a track saw. It's likely designed for indoor use.
The rear handle doesn't have vacuum port, but it has a raft hook and blade on the left -- convenient for visual the cut. :-(
It's free after selling the batteries and charger so why not? Lol
That worked for me in the past but these makita saws and batteries are getting much harder to sell at this point anymore as this deal has gone on so many times
I paid approximately $150 with the Home Depot Hack. You still can get the deal if you can find the Makita Circular Saw and the additional 2x5.o amp batteries at Home Depot. The deal expires on August 1, 2021. Long live the Hack!
