I got mine at target(the 32gb) less than a month ago, so far so good..returned the spectrum digital receiver box so we can get 9 bucks off of our bill every month..so Ive been using the spectrum app, takes some time to get used to, but otherwise its fine..and Im enjoying for once that I can watch peacock(WWE events) in my room instead of on the computer since my samsung tv does not have peacock on it

I don't understand what's the point of tv box. 1st you have to buy the box and then you have to pay to use their streaming apps. Make no sense. I thought the point of buying the box is to pay once and you get to watch whatever you want.
I don't get the point of paying for internet. You buy modem 1st and internet free forever.

There is no USB port.

You can play MKV using network shares and VLC.
Tempting, do you still get Dolby Vision if you play using VLC instead of the standard apple player? Any downsides to using VLC?

If you don't know many people hack Apple Tv to install 3rd party apps like Kodi etc.. Works way better then crappy android boxes.

I agree with you 100%! I have both the previous gen and latest gen models, with both remotes. I actually purchased the previous gen off of a woot deal ($100) AFTER I had purchased the latest model and had gotten used to the new remote. All of the horror stories I had heard about the "old" remote and how awful it was, I just knew I was going to have to go out and purchase the new remote separately to pair with the older model. But after using it for like 10 mins, I was honestly like, "WTH is all of the bad rep about this thing?!?!" It's really not bad at all! The only thing I did differently (off of some of the advise I've seen from other SlickDeals posters) is purchase a silicon case to go around it that I really like a lot for the grip and feel.

But to answer your general question, the primary thing (outside of the new "click wheel" type layout and a faster processor) the newer one has a power button that you can use to turn on/off your connected TV/Audio System with. However…just use Siri to "Turn Off TV" every night (and just "Menu" button to turn on), and works just as fine for me.
furture proof???

Is this good for streaming games from PC to tv? Compared to nvidia shield pro.
I have this exact model and have installed the "steam link" app through the app store.

I have tried multiple times to get it to work well even with just an SNES emulator. I can look over at the computer I'm streaming from and the computer is running it smooth as silk but on my TV it is running at a terrible resolution, low fps and has a DELAY.

It is literally unplayable for me. I have tried several different emulators and steam games natively. I am very disappointed in that aspect, but the rest of the box is great
