For the price, I would not hesitate in recommending Clarks, but I do agree that there has been a drop off in quality and especially comfort, in my limited experience. I had a pair of brown Escalade shoes that I wore for about four years. My black shoes were Rockport dress shoes (bicycle 2 something or other lol; all i know is they are amazingly comfortable). I bought the newer version of the Escalade shoes, and the inside material of the escalade, the padding for your foot (sorry I don't know the technical term for these things), was waayyyy less comfortable. I don't waste shoes, so I am still wearing those Escalade shoes, but they are wearing much more quickly and are significantly less comfortable. I bought new Rockport shoes and the inside material of those also were not quite as comfortable as before (the previous insert was adidas branded and I'm not sure what the new one is but it is no longer that), but the difference was not nearly as dramatic as with the Clarks. Anyway, again, at these prices you can expect that you're not getting the most amazingly comfortable shoe, and it's still much better than buying dockers or nunn bush or something like that...Clarks are still more comfortable than those more budget options will ever be. Sorry for the long comment, and I'm not saying my experience is the same as that of others. I honestly hope you guys have better luck than I did.
What you said is true, but these shoes on sale are not Clarks. Loot at the photos, they say Bostonian. These are even worse than Clarks
Yes, but it's worth extra price. These Bostonian shoes will fall apart after few months, but Allen Edmonds with leather outsoles will easily last you 5-10 years.

I have to wear dress shoes every day for work---Most I've gotten out of a pair of any shoes is a year Learned to stop dumping $800 into Louboutin or Maganinni Italian shoes when I can get a pair of similar looking Florsheims or Nunn Bush's for the price of getting resoles. I'm wearing a pair of Florsheim Castellano wingtips right now that I paid $80 for and they look fantastic. Not to mention the high-tech insoles vs plain leather insoles in my Italian shoes that tends to stink up pretty quickly.
Coupons/promotions don't stack. It tried signing up for their email and also qualified for ID.me but you have to remove one code to use another. "Summer" is best one to go with
I've had the same experience with purchasing Clark's in the last few years. The shoes I bought back in 2005 were of better quality than Clark's I've purchased in 2015 or so. The older ones seemed to have lasted longer and provided more support in comparison.
Does anyone have recommendations for black shoes that are supportive and comfortable I can wear to the office and also as a daily driver? I'm the type of guy that only owns two pairs of shoes for years because I hate getting adjusted to a new pair. So I don't mind investing in a good pair. I work as a hospital social worker, so I'm often on my feet, but not as long as nurses or any other staff providing direct care would be.
