StackSocial[stacksocial.com] is having a sale on Tello Prepaid 3-Month Plan: Unlimited Talk/Text + 8GB LTE Data + Free SIM for $49 - $15.01 w/promo code T3MOSAVE = $33.99.
Important Details:
Length of access: 3 months
Redemption deadline: redeem your code within 30 days of purchase
Once you give StackSocial your money and the sale goes through, you will get a redemption link on your confirmation page. When you click that, it reveals your license code (which you'll need when you go to Tello to tell them you bought this) and all of the following instructions:
Please follow the steps below to redeem your purchase:
Make sure Unlimited Talk/Text + 8GB LTE Data + Free SIM is selected and hit "I want this plan"
Create your account with tello.com by clicking Create a new account
Enter your name, email address, and password and select to agree the terms and conditions
Click Join Tello
Copy and Paste the above Coupon Code into the Coupon Code Field and Click Apply.
Select either to get a new phone or use your old phone, Click Get Started
A credit/debit card or Paypal will be required for order validation
After you have placed the order, you will receive a free Tello SIM with free standard shipping
Once you receive your Tello SIM, activate your service at tello.com/activate
The coupon is valid only for this plan, it cannot be applied to any other Tello plan or phone
Stay on this plan for 3 months in a row in order to keep the offer. If you change the phone plan, the offer will no longer apply going forward"
For the above, you will want to go ahead and select "I need a Tello SIM". It will add $2 to your order, but a -$2 credit will appear to offset it, and it guarantees you'll get a SIM.
These deals come and go, as OP listed you must redeem within 30 days of purchase at Tello's site. When you redeem at Tello, you should stack with a referral code (can get from many other users) that will give you another $10 in credit that you can use after the three months is up (if you try to use it before the prepaid period is up you'll lose the plan you got). For example you can get a 2 gig data only plan for $10. The only downside of Tello credit is that it's all or nothing (ie you can't apply $10 towards a more expensive plan, just plans of $10 or less for a renewal)
If I left Tello 6 months ago, can I buy this deal to rejoin?
Yes. It can be under the same account but it would have to be a new line. Then you can port in your number once the new line is activated (temporary number is given when you order the SIM card)
Lost power all day yesterday so it was nice to have some GSM data for backup. The T-mo signal was probably twice as strong as my VZW tracfone tower. I have 5GB saved up for tether at $5/mo data only plan
Tello s*cks. Could not activate my unlocked Nokia GSM which was on Liberty (another Tmobile MVNO). Then get this message from CS:
"Unfortunately, the auto-renew feature is set up by default and can not be turned off. You would need to cancel your plan and manually renew it once you are ready."
Cannot even turn off auto renew?!!

When you "cancel" a plan, you are essentially just turning off auto-renew. The plan does not cancel immediately, but remains in effect for the full month you purchased. You will not lose and data and minutes purchased for that month.
This may be a dumb question, but do I redeem from StackSocial before or after getting the SIM card? I'm not sure if redeeming is what gets Tello to ship out the SIM, or if that happens on its own and I just redeem to activate it on the plan.

Reminds me of Mint's recent 3-Months 8GB of High Speed @ Best Buy for $30.
THANKS
