Just remember that you can only load one gift card into their app.
I love Chipotle but hate that they won't update their app to allow more, or just do like Starbucks and let you combine all of your gift cards into one.
they actually changed this recently. They do allow you to use a gift card with a lesser amount than your order. You can then use one debit or credit card to pay the remaining balance. This did not use to be the case, but does work now!
This. I have found this to be a pain on multiple occasions. I ended up contacting Chipotle support back in June and their response was:
"I completely understand where you're coming from. Please know that we have extensively discussed this with our IT team and the reason why guests aren't allowed to add several gift cards on our platform is due to security concerns. Regardless, I will make sure your disappointment reaches the appropriate teams so that we can better serve you moving forward."
I just don't understand how such a large restaurant chain can't figure out how to create an account balance instead of individual card balances. Oh well, its still a decent deal!
Because Starbucks has so much fraud due to multiple cards and combining them!
Read: sarcasm.
Looks like 3 gift cards with the AMEX $10 is more of a discount than 5% off. I'll be going the AMEX route since the Chipotle gift cards will get used eventually anyway.
EDIT: Now there's a limit of 1 per customer. Phooey.
i WAS a 2-3 time a week customer for years with chipotle. However, especially after the pandemic started the food quality has declined quite a bit and the prices have gone up quite a bit, not a good combo.
Also, they previously charged a small delivery fee of $3.99, no menu price bump and no service fee. Yesterday, I ordered 6 meals for my staff and the delivery fee was "free" but it had a $20 service fee and each menu item was $1-2 more expensive. When we changed it to pickup the total for the order (no tip either) went down by $40! It was $10 tip, $20 service fee, $8-9 in menu price increase and tax difference.
I don't think i'll be going back either as my bowl without beans was totally soaked through with grease...rice, chicken, lettuce and guacamole (which is now almost $3?)
