Having researched for long time on ebike and recently bought one. I feel this is overpriced for a 500 watt motor and it's battery size.
I ended up with juiced CCX for way less and it's a way better bike. 750 watt vs 500 on this , huge 19.2 amp/hr battery on my CCX vs this , mine has 80 mile range.
But this is better probably than your local bike shop because when I went to my local one they want $6000-8000 no joke for what my CCX juiced bike does. I paid $1899 for mine with sale and $100 off stacked coupon.

Whatever ebike you end up with let me tell you ebikes are GAME CHANGERS. I was stunned when my CCX took my 51 yr old fat ass 43 mile ride. And it said it had 40-45% battery left. I used my last two covid checks to order it basically. Still LOVE riding it, it's just FUN.

I did a ton of research on e-bikes when looking to buy and this a really really good deal if you're in the market for one specifically for fitness but still want the electric for hills/wind resistance.
However, educate me. Are you saying an internal hub shifter is preferred over a more traditional 9-10-11 speed? Do not the internal hub shifters have limited gearing?
I was under the impression that the higher end bikes had the ability to integrate better parts, like say a full Ultegra or GRX 800 driveline which, to my knowledge, is lighter, offers waaaay better gearing and is superior in nearly every way?
IMO, the hub design is more similar to a moped and is much more limited.

If ones commute is short I don't think you'd want either of these mentioned. Cheaper options for way way lower price. Ebike it comes down to how you want to use it. Search youtube videos for a day or two and you'll learn anything you'd ever want to know frankly.

Here is a nice short video explaining a bit difference. In short the Envilo version has a much wider shift range than the Shimano version which only has 5 gears. The nice thing I find personally is the noise associated with them. They are near silent when paired with the belt drive.
The traditional shifter will be easier to repair and cheaper to replace if problems. The newer system is quieter, supposedly less maintenance, and probably a slightly smoother shifting experience since it does not need to physically move a chain to switch gears.
As far as lighter goes....that's probably true but you're talking about a 50+ lb bike because of the battery.
When I said moped like I was referring to the rear hub where the motor is and not the shifter. A rear hub e-bike essentially spins the back tire for you to go, while a mid drive is attached to the pedals to give a more natural bike feeling. Both the CVT shifter and the rear hub motor make it more difficult if and when you need to remove the back tire.
