Terrible Product. The iPhone inbuilt mic has way better quality than this tin-can mic

Decent little mic IMO. I have 3 of them, and I use them for interviews and events with my DSLRs (video work).

They're not *PRO* sounding, but they are:
Better sound quality than the built in mic
Small and easy to carry
Comes with dead cat and accessories
Doesn't require batteries
Comes with cords for both DSLR/Mirrorless and Mobile
CHEAP

I can't say how it works on mobile cause I've never used it for my phone, but it is a cheap/lightweight upgrade from your camera's built in mic.

If you're looking for an inexpensive mic, search for reviews for the TAKSTAR SGC-598. It goes for about the same price on sale..

I have this and the TAKSTAR. Honestly, this mic is really good for the price (IMO). I like it better than the Rode I had previously. Seems to perform well overall, and definitely an upgrade over built in mic on cameras. Might not be worth it for phones, as many have fairly good mics already.

Understanding microphone types can be very helpful. This is a cardioid/"shotgun" mic, which means it is directional - it picks up sound from the front, but is good at rejecting noise from the sides and the back. Since noise bounces off walls, this can be difficult to get just right. That's why you often see these types of mics, albeit much more sophisticated and expensive, used on boom poles pointing down directly at a talking subject. That said, if it doesn't matter that a mic would be visible in your shot, a lavalier mic might be a better choice. I have 3 of these exact mics. Neewer QC can be so-so, but for the price these can't be beat. Rode sells similar mics for more than 4 times the price that honestly aren't as good. Anyone who's had problems with this mic either
A) got a bad unit,
B) Isnt using it correctly,
C) Has unrealistic expectations of a a DIRT cheap cadioid mic.
