Amazon.com has the Philips H9505 [https] headphones on sale for $148
it was $249 previously, this is now over 40% off

it has Active Noise Canceling (ANC) with Hybrid type (mic both in and outside of the earcups) and has app control, hybrid ANC, touch controls, google assistant and alexa, 28 hours, line-in, hi-res audio, and decent sound quality

I actually bought one last week when it dropped down to this price and tried them, they appear to be better than my Anker Q30 but still a notch below the Sony WH-1000MX4
for $148, they are actually good value

Here is my take:
- decent sound quality, better than Anker Q30, comparable to WH-1000MX3 and MX4
- pretty good ANC performance, better than Anker Q30, slightly different range tuned out compared to 1000MX3
- okay app controls, enough for what it does
- has 2 levels of ANC (low and high), as well as adaptive ANC
- takes a while to remember what the touch controls are but most are intuitive
- has line-in
- 28 hours is plenty of battery life (28 with ANC on too)
- charges pretty darn fast
- flat fold, no inward folding but this means the carrying case is slimmer, easier to store in backpacks
- couldn't get NFC pairing to work with my phone, could be just me
- dual device pairing works pretty nifty, used it without any problems, definitely a must-have these days

heres my ranking based on my experience of collecting headphones:
Sony 1000MX4 > Philips H9505 > Sony 1000MX3 (no good dual connect) > Bose Q35ii > Anker Q35 > Anker Q30
Good Deal?

Is the sound quality that much better than the Anker Q30 to justify spending double the price?

I found it much better in the mids which is actually important
this is by no means an audiophile headset but Q30's build quality and the steel headband doesn't even compare to this

the Philips headphone is much better build quality, it is around sony's level of build quality and design while anker doesn't have touch control (you have tons of buttons), ANC on Q30 isn't as good, and sound quality differs

q30's earpads were pretty slim and my ears were touching the insides of the earcups :/
i ended up giving the Q30 away to my friend's son as gift lol

Oh and Q30 hurts my hand when I grabbed it by the top of the band because there isn't padding wrapped around the top, exposing the steel band and edges are a little thin and... Edgy...

No aptx or Ldac support. Ridiculously overpriced.

You haven't even heard it in person and if you really want good audio, wired is still the best way which this does have it. If using Spotify and Pandora, you won't even notice a difference. Iphones don't have aptx anyways

Android have higher quality codecs like llhc, ldac, etc. But that's not important here.

I personally wouldn't buy ANC headphones for critical listening...I like them for blocking out noise, or people around me. Open back planars I have are in another league, however they block nothing and use a cable (not great while working).
