I have a pool and would never swim in a stranger's pool, unless I brought test strips for chemical levels.

Great idea.
Pools cost a fortune now and some areas have no public pool.
Would definitely do this.

This actually sounds very attractive. I would bring some test strips too, which isn't hard to do.

My goodness, what a strange comment. Is there some new craze where people are putting poisoned water in swimming pools? I guess I should have done a chemical analysis of all the hotel, motel, neighbor, country club and community pools in which I have swum over the years. Maybe not, as I haven't had an issue with a single one. Are you a vegan, and do you eat a gluten free diet?

Not concerned about adding things, concerned about lack of chemicals. These people are essentially running an unregulated public pool. With the chlorine shortage, I wouldn't be surprised if people skimp on chemicals and open their public pool swimmers to sickness or worse.

Nothing, but if you show up for your "paid pool party" and there is little or no chlorine or sanitizer in there, good luck getting a refund.

How can they afford the liability? Seen way too many accidents at public pools to even think about this.

How is running a public pool out of your backyard a thing? What kind of pool owner is stupid enough to do this?

I guess this is another one of those "it's ok to break the law because there's an app on my phone that makes it feel legitimate" kinda things.

I like the concept. Would take my family to enjoy a NICE pool..

But the pools are going for $60/hour in my very average cost of living location.

NO WAY at $60/hour.

Pool chemicals go both ways, too little can cause issues but have you ever swam in a pool with too much chemical? It's far too easy for someone to over chemical water and potentially cause harm. A lot of people like to use pool shock and that alone can do some pretty cruddy things to your skin if you don't wait long enough for the levels to go down. Chemical burns suck just as bad as itchy rashes from no chemicals or out of wack ph.
Test strips it is!

Just guessing here, but they probably require the pool owners to use a professional pool cleaner who handles the chemicals.

I'm with you, I just feel like that's for sure going to be impossible to enforce nationwide. Just like how some Ubers you get in look like they have been maintained/cleaned a bit better than others...no national standard.
