It's usable but it's tight, and you don't want to run it anywhere near full. Also, on that page Best Buy describe 8GB RAM as providing "Excellent multitasking, Advanced photo/video editing, Mid-range gaming". Really? Seems a stretch.

Seriously, when was the last time I upgraded the RAM on my mobile PC? I'm thinking like 10 yrs ago. For those ~10% of folks that are going to use the full capability of something like this, completely push the RAM and need to use the whole HD w/ apps/storage, then yeah...you need something a little more modifiable.

For ~85% of folks, this pc is more than enough and by the time you need something more powerful, you probably will want a new PC anyway. Something cooler will come along by then,

I'm thoroughly enjoying the Yoga 6 - 13" Ryzen version of this laptop. Very similar specs, only difference is the 11th gen i7 versus the Ryzen 4650U. It can do a lot more than I expected...would be nice to have a larger SSD, which can be easily done.

Picked up the 12GB/512GB version back in February and although the performance is snappy, there are a few things to be aware of:

* Sharp edge on the front of the laptop kinda jabs into my wrists when typing/touchpadding, especially if my system is sitting on my lap when working.
* I've had the screen mysteriously turn white and system crash twice. I can't replicate it easily, and it only happened twice (once before and once after doing everything suggested by tech support) so I'm not planning to go without the laptop for 3 months as they try to figure it out, but it is a bit disconcerting.
* Touch screen, but no integrated pen slot and I had to pick up a pen from the aftermarket ($10)
* Seriously limited in ports (2 USB-C including one that has to have something plugged in for power, 2 regular USB, and an audio jack), requiring adapters for HDMI, SD card, etc..

Otherwise, no big concerns.

Excellent callouts. A dock is pretty much required if you are expected to be productive with your laptop.

I'm using an older Yoga 700 for work and that front edge lip is beyond annoying. I've got a mini keyboard that I carry with me just to avoid using that lip when typing.

The description is wrong ("Best Buy has Lenovo ThinkBook 14s Yoga 2-in-1 ..."). This is a Yoga (consumer line), not ThinkBook (small business line).

I want to like this deal but I have had two Lenovo's with 16gb of ram and they have both always run like shit. I have a Surface Laptop 3 with 8gb of ram that runs circles around both of them...

Do you have a recommendation for a docking station? My work gave me one for my work laptop (usb-c variety) and agree it's awesome. Considering this laptop with a dock for my daughter to take to college.

I own a medical clinic and just brought on an IT company bc we got our 18th employee, and I couldn't continue doing all of our IT myself (I still can't quite give it up bc this stuff is fun). When we made tye switch, I was fed up with dealing with all of our computers - with different chargers, different ages, etc. They were the ones I accumulated from slickdeals laptops when I would search for the 300-400 range. And the didn't last in a BUSINESS environment. I got my first one of this exact model in June. 4 actually, bc I hired 4 people to start at the same time. I liked them. My interest as a business owner was to be able to fold the laptop upright so it could be used with a secondary monitor and keyboard. And the USC-C charging made them universal in our front office. I have replaced the majority of our computer fleet with this precise model. I bought a total of 14 of them and am quite impressed by their performance. I cannot attest to the battery life yet, though nobody has had issues yet. I price matched 2 of them I got yesterday at 650 since they were 600 today.
One regret I would advise all of you: do not buy an expensive laptop as a geek-squat certified for 806 instead of 850. They won't price match the six I have and would require me to return them and buy them new at a cheaper price. Not worth the discount if u anticipate price will drop. Seriously though, I highly recommend for business. Maybe it sucks for gaming and video, but it's just fine if u need to use a generic scanner, medical record software, and microsoft office.

I ended up with https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019XOJ874 which was on lightning deal for $50 at the time. I needed something powered that would run my dual monitors, which might be overkill for college.
