I disagree, I have been using it for the past year or so. Great build quality for the price!

not a great price, stay away from this laptop. Flimsy build quality, not worth the price.

This, 100%! I got my son the Costco one for college (Lenovo S540) but unfortunately it has to go back -- the usb3 port is mis-aligned. A usb device won't plug in without "levering" it and bending the internal connector. Which pretty much means the jack to motherboard connection is going to fail. So I want to return it during the costco 3-month return window, but I can't figure out what to replace it with. I'd love the same one, but with an 11th G or AMD processor.

I guess this one is OK, but the resolution doesn't have me thrilled ... Confused
Perhaps they still have some new stock left, or some unopened returns, that they can replace this one with. Or, at worst, a slightly used and returned unit in essentially new condition that they'd replace this with and offer you a discount on because it was used. Worth a try and probably what I'd do if I otherwise liked the laptop. But you'd have to call CS as stores probably couldn't help you even if they had some returned units in the back.

Btw they have this one in warehouses. I played around with one for a minute and it was ok but it didn't quite feel right. Slightly too big, keyboard a tad mushy, felt like a generic mid-size laptop. Maybe I prefer smaller ones because they tend to be "cuter". But I'll pass on this. 13.3" is what I'm holding out for, ideally with a faster CPU and maybe even 1TB SSD, plus Windows 11 already installed so I don't have to do it myself. I'm thinking this fall.

There is an option when you choose your payments to click a box that says take another $100 off. It wasn't available on my mobile device but when I logged on with a desktop browser the option is there. After it was selected on the desktop browser the price dropped. Give that a try. Some BB employees are aware and walk consumers to their demo PCs to get the deal.
Has this expired? I just signed up for studentdeals today so maybe that's I'm not seeing it, but can't find the checkbox to get that $100 off anywhere on the site or in my cart/checkout

I just ordered this laptop, so I would say this promo is still active. On the specification page for that specific laptop, on the top right, underneath the price, you should see a checkbox for $100 off student deal. Just check the box and it should take the $100 off.

FYI I used a browser on a computer.

made of metal ... cause it to bend when falling off from sofa to carpet 2-3 ft
You'd prefer that it was broken? Did you try bending it back?

saw a yoga at bestbuy 13.3" at around this price but specs weren't all that great.

I can wait a while longer but it's just a matter of time before my 11+ year old laptop bites the dust, so not much longer. I'm hoping that fall or the holidays at the latest will bring some deals on ones that comes close to matching my wishlist:

~13.3"
<=3lbs
16GB RAM
512GB+ SSD
300+ nits
Hi-res screen
OK CPU & video
Decent keyboard
3+ USB ports
<$700

That Costco deal came close but the CPU felt a bit underpowered. But CPU/video are what I'm most willing to compromise on since I don't run anything too power-intensive like games, simulations, photo editing, video rendering, etc. (and if I did, I'd do it on a desktop). In retrospect I probably should have gotten it. Hopefully a somewhat better version of it comes out by the holidays and my hesitation will have paid off. In my experience it usually does.

The metal is actually hard, rigid and cut out is extremely precise that is impossible to bend back exactly as it was before... Causing the button to constantly being depressed. I ended up taking out the power button so it will at least work... However, now I have to use a tooth pick to turn the machine on... My plastic laptop survived on the same sofa and carpet for years without any issues.
