Would also stop that ricochet hammering you hear on some systems when you shut the washer off really quick.

I think these are great idea, I'm definitely going to link for it, at this price 👍👍

Thanks, OP!

Only two stores have this in the Atlanta area: one has them for $65, the other has "limited stock" for $55.

My system has an Amtrol ex-30, could I get this and use it when that dies?

I believe the national plunging code was updated in 1985 to require backflow preventers (don't know if that was Canada or US). But even if it was the US, it's only a guide and every local has it's own code. Generally, you only need the tank if you have a backflow preventer, RPZ, or close system. Some PRV's do have bypass's and some don't, but always recommend a tank.

I just had one rust out and begin spraying water in about 8 years. Seemed like a short life.

Seems about as long as a water heater then? So, replace the water heater and replace the Pressure tank... I seem to get about 10 years out of mine before they start leaking.

This thing causes your Flume Water Sensor or water meter continuously running. So if you have Flume Water sensor, it's not going to work. I tried 3 different expansion tank brands. They all did the same thing. I tried Everbuilt from HD, AO Smith from Lowes and high-rated Amtrol and some off-brand. They all caused water meter to running continuously. I called support from one of those manufactures. They said that's normal operation of expansion tank. I want to monitor leak so I took it off and never installed it. I don't think you really need it. It's nice to have.

They normally only have a 1 year warranty. This is basically a ballon in a metal tank. Clorine will break down the ballon and it will rupture leaving you with a useless tank.

Unless you test it, you don't know if its workiing. It has a value on it similar to a bike/car tire. press it quickly...if water comes out, the ballon inside has ruptured...

For 99.9% of the time, this thing is a joke, because no one checks to see if the ballon is in tact.

Less than 10 years. There is a rubber diaphragm inside that eventually gets a hole in it or wears out. If that happens, there is no protection from thermal expansion and an increased pressure head to your system. This increased pressure can easily ruin faucets as they typically can handle only about 80psi. This is how I found out my expansion tank needed replacement after 8 years. A new kitchen faucet started to leak around the base of the handle because it blew out the gaskets that aren't meant to be replaced. There is a pressure valve on top of the tanks that looks like something on a tire. You should NEVER get water out of that. If you do your tank needs to be replaced.
