Can anyone tell me how this would handle Metro Exodus in particular, but also games over the next five years? I don't need to play at 4k but I would like smooth framerates in AAA games for a good chunk of time (I'm thinking of building my first pc but hampered by the graphics card shortage)

Flawlessly. I have the 17 inch 3070 and I get ridiculously awesome framerates in everything I play.

Seems the latest Gigabyte AERO models going on sizable discounts of late. Wonder if sales are struggling causing them to do this?
I mean at ~2k for a 11th gen 11800H + 3080, albeit only 8GB Vram and only I think ~100W TGP, its not going to be the strongest performer but good bang for your buck. Huge plus going for it is the 4K OLED screen and relatively light at ~4.4lbs. I have an Asus S17 (3080 + QHD screen) on preorder for 3.5k but wonder if I should just save myself the cash and get one of these guys. Pros for the S17 is the thin sleek design (best looking laptop imo this year but that's a personal preference), mechanical raised KB, and I'm getting a full 140W 3080. Cons: $$$, and the QHD screen I'm hearing only gets to ~350nits.

FYI the 3080 is Max-Q with TDP at 115W (incl. boost) and 8GB VRAM. At this price point + doing a rebate I would not be happy getting something like that.

If you're paying $2k+, you should be going with a known quantity like Alienware, Omen, Razer, etc. The specs on this Gigabyte are there but the track record is not.
Im not sure about the current models but omens and alienwares have terrible track records when it comes to cooling

Razer? You're kidding right? They have one of if not the highest return/repair rate. They are way newer to this laptop game than Gigabyte. Gigabyte has their OC issues at times but so does every company. Alienware(Dell) just got cooling on their laptops decent in the last year and a half, they ALWAYS overheated.
Just got the Gigabyte A7 X1 with a 3070 and amd processor. Runs all current games at ultra/max settings. Love it. Seeing this makes me sad because it has a better GPU and display than mine.
Gigabyte Aero laptops have unfortunately had thermal throttling issues the last few generations and this is no exception. It's even worse than the Dell G5s and M15s.
I added to cart and even went to checkout and it's still coming up as $2449? Any idea what I'm doing wrong.
For some reason there are two different links in this post. Where it says 'deal[adorama].com' click 'adorama' rather than deal and it should take you to the correct page.
