Hi Lenovo Rep yes this is Michael and I'm trying to take advantage of a price error but when I don't follow the OPs instructions on Slickdeals the price error disappears can you help me?

The Pro 5 supposedly ships in 10-12 business days as opposed to 3+ months for the normal Legion 5 17" model. I took a shot at this; after-tax total of $1,647.50 for the Pro 5 with:

● AMD® Ryzen™ 7 5800H Processor (3.20 GHz, up to 4.40 GHz Max Boost, 8 Cores, 16 Threads, 16 MB Cache)
â—Ź Windows 10 Pro 64 English
â—Ź 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 16 GB)
â—Ź 1 TB PCIe SSD
â—Ź 1 TB PCIe SSD
● 16.0" WQXGA (2560 x 1600) IPS, anti-glare with Dolby Vision™, HDR 400, 500 nits, 165Hz
● NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX™ 3070 8GB
â—Ź 720p HD
â—Ź Array Microphone
â—Ź Storm Grey
â—Ź Backlit 4 Zone RGB - US English
● Wi-Fi 802.11AX (2 x 2) & Bluetooth® 5.1
â—Ź Anodizing
â—Ź PC/ABS
â—Ź 4 Cell Li-Polymer 80Wh
â—Ź 300W AC
â—Ź Publication-English
â—Ź 1 Year Depot or Carry-in

Fingers crossed to get this laptop at $950 off the retail price!

When mux is turned on the Amd software is deactivated
So freesync is only selectable in hybrid mode.
But the display on the l5 17 does not support freesync so the option is not selectable. Huge disappointment for me.
I rather have variable refresh rate that even the extra 1 tb drive which was not included by the way.
If your order confirmation specifically list two 1TB drives, then it's worth fighting for sure. When the question was first raised up a month ago, I think most people only had a 1TB drive listed under "Second Storage Selection" in the order confirmation, but because it's listed as "Second", people were mistakely assuming there was a First drive as well.

For Free-Sync, can anyone else confirm it's not supported by the display?

yeah i don't think the L5 17 has 2 drives, at least mine is:
Second Storage Selection - 1TB SSD M.2 2280 G3 TLC
Storage Selection - None

Are we expecting the display to support freesync with the iGPU?

How about Gsync(capable/etc) since there's an RTX 3070? Curious to know if there's any VRR at all.

I think what's bothering me is that I recall selecting the 1 TB ssd as an upgrade during my order. It's still a great deal (esp. after PAW discount and points!), but yeah, it's a bummer not to get the extra drive. Mine should be here soon and I'll confirm, but it sounds like it will be the same story as you all.

That selection upgraded the default 256GB to the 1TB, but there wasn't a selection for another drive. Both in my original post and SD's write up, there wasn't a mention of a second 1TB drive.

I'd definitely want to know if the missng FreeSync is isolated or widespread though.

Screenshot of your spec sheet. OP seems to think that there was never an option to add a second drive to the 17" model.

Dont return it, not only will be a hassle, it not cost effective. Just sell it locally you might even turn up a small profit. You'll get a bunch of people willing to buy a 5800h + 3070 for $1200

I took extra time to make sure I max out my config (didn't get the Office upgrade though), and there was no primary storage selection option. Only secondary. It was probably some sort of backend coding issue.

I can forgive the the extra 1 tb issue because I have a 4tb nvme anyways.

But what's not forgivable is that my laptop was advertised to have freesync

Which I was looking forward for games like flight simulator 2020

Real bummer
