Great deal. Wish my cats still liked chicken. A couple of weeks ago they just decided chicken wasn't there thing and won't touch it.

What exactly makes it crap? And what would you recommend for people on a budget as a brand to buy? My budget is catching sales for 50 cents/3 oz. or less and have a mix of average and higher quality on hand I rotate through. And I always hear the worst quality wet food is better than the best quality dry food, so sometimes whatever you can afford for wet is okay.

It's an average food. I checked catfoodbd.com before buying. Cats are also carnivores and it has meat ingredients as first 2, then a starch, and the rest is vitamins and minerals. There are no vegetables or fruits listed in the first few ingredients, which cats cannot digest properly. It is a little higher in carbs, but most gravy based foods are because of added starch to make the gravy and my younger two mainly eat gravy based because they are picky with pates.

Here's the ingredients:
"Chicken, Chicken Broth, Tapioca Starch, Sunflower Oil, Fish Oil (Source of EPA And DHA), Tricalcium Phosphate, Guar Gum, Potassium Chloride, Minerals (Zinc Oxide, Reduced Iron, Sodium Selenite, Manganese Sulfate, Copper Amino Acid Complex, Potassium Iodide), Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin Supplement, Biotin Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex), Taurine, Spinach, Inulin, Choline Chloride, Turmeric Powder, Asorbyl 2-Phosphate (Source of Vitamin C)"

Did you read the CatFoodDB summary?

more carbohydrates than average
less fat than average

Cats need a medium fat, lower carb diet. This ain't that.

There are other Authority SKUs that are much better such as Pate Adult Cat Food - Beef and Flaked Entree In Gravy - Turkey.

For reasonably inexpensive grocery store fare, Crave is very good.

Also, Petco and Chewy offer 35%-40% off the first S&S shipment of some excellent food on; cancel any time.

Oh, and research is free.

Yes, did you read my last comment? Because if you did you would notice me stating information from the site.

Again, not all cats will eat higher quality food or eat pates, which are normally lower in carbs. At the end of the day someone needs to work within their budget and what their cat will eat and do the best they can.

Crave is over $1 for 2.6 oz.. at Chewy and Petsmart, and no wet food is showing up on Walmart's website. That is not affordable for everyone. What is an affordable option? What is a recommended food that costs 50 cents/3 oz. or less?

Chewy is only first time autoship, which is one order. Petco is only up to $20 off for each new order. That is only a few cases. Plus, the prices are still high unless the items also have a B2G1 free sale, or similar, to double stack with the autoship promotion.

So again, what items would you suggest that are higher in quality that fit the budget of 50 cents/3 oz. or less?

You're not going to find anything nutritious at that price on a regular basis. Feeding crap will only present serious health problems later in life, such as kidney failure.

How long should a female indoor cat live to be?

13 to 17 years. If spayed at a young age prior to their first heat, which reduces the risk of cancer; shelters do this at about 10-12 weeks. And not fed a bad diet. Some live into their 20s.

Really? ALL of my cats in the past 40 years, both indoor and outdoor, have lived long and healthy lives on so called "crap" cat food.

Quit food shaming pet owners on feeding their pets what they're able to afford. It beats having the animal dropped off in the country to fend for its own. An occurrence all too common where I live. I currently care for 4 cats that have showed up on our property after being dropped off or booted from their homes. They are neutered (after they've gained trust in humans and are able to be handled again), fed, flea treated (with what you would probably consider sh!t products) and given shelter. These animals wander onto our property battered, injured and in poor health. On "crap" food they thrive, are comfortable and lead long lives.

Take your judgement elsewhere. It's not needed here where people are trying to find economical means to survive.

Anecdotal evidence means nothing. Kidney disease is real, shortens lives, and is largely caused by garbage food. This is called "science."

Conditions and diseases caused by poor quality food:

Obesity (50% of US cats are obese)
Pancreatitis
Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD)
Heart Disease
Diarrhea

I lost my first cat due to feeding this garbage food as I did not know any better then.

Wet: Instinct, Authority (only the above average stuff as noted on CatFoodDB), TikiCat.

Dry: Wysong, Tikicat, Crave (grocery store), Instinct, Wellness Core (kitten)

I usually buy the more expensive stuff on an intial S&S significant discount deal through Petco and Chewy.

Hills is nutrionally below average crap.
