  4. Make purchases at any of the following stores to begin earning the 5% Cashback Bonus:

lazy is not having an amazon prime or amazon store card if you intend to spend $1500 at amazon which gets you 5% off every day of the year and you won't have to blink or get excited when you hear someone else is offering 5% off at amazon.com. honestly, it's really a bad idea to buy $1500 all at once in amazon gcs. not only will amazon offer bf deals that include promos with gc sales but also the 5% discover bonus is best used for something you just can't get anywhere else at 5%. i can sneeze and get 5% off at amazon even without a card. not going to blow my discover card deal on amzn gcs.

for this quarter (not last quarter with paypal) the deal is with walmart.com which means:

will it work? (yes/no)

plastic walmart gcs (yes)
walmart egc (no)
3rd party walmart gcs and egcs (yes and no): look for the symbol that means "shipped and sold by walmart"

As well as the "PSA" that I've seen warning me that my amazon digital credit may be expiring.

Is it a "deal"? I guess not

Is it helpful to get a reminder that I may not have activated potential to save $75 (or that my $8 in Digital credit may be expiring)? Absolutely!

Deal gets a TU from me (as well as at least another 179 people who found value from this post)

Just checked Discover Rewards and noticed that Happy Holiday card is 20% off when you use your cashback. This card is good for:Macy's, Ulta Beauty, Lowe's or GameStop. Enjoy a meal at Red Lobster, Chili's or P.F. Chang's.

Lowe's is a good deal.

How is this a super hot FP deal here? It is the worst category anyway Discover had whole year, worse than restaurants/supermarkets, and definitely worse than warehouse clubs which would be easy to maximize by lets say buying $1500 GC on costco.com and use it next couple of months.

All of the Discover 5% cashback quarterly deals are for a max of $75. That is 1,500 in eligible purchases. I have been a Discover card holder since 1996. Back in those days people used to make fun of me for having a Discover card.
