Avoid. While a good deal they make garbage. Had their top end Eliptical that died inside of three months. They apparently got tired of sending the repair man and sent another entire Eliptical. It was very evident it was redesigned with much thinner metal and was physically smaller despite being the same model. Shocker, right outside of warranty it died as well. I'll never buy another product of their. There are only two rowers you could consider, Conecpt2 or Waterrower. I bought a City Row branded waterpower but you can buy a plain Jane directily from them for as low as $900. It's wood and plastic, nothing to break. Take care of it and it will last decades. No magnetic resistance crap to break on you. Also can check Facebook or Craigs list for used ones in your area.

I have direct experience with the C2, Xebex 3.0 and RW200/500.

A C2 and Xebex 2.0 or 3.0 are the most comparable for price, performance, value and longevity. My RW500 lasted exactly 15 minutes before the magnetic resistance disc failed. It took me 6 weeks to return it. NordicTrack was a nightmare to deal with.

If you are willing to spend $600, I would highly consider t he Xebex 2.0 non-smart connect for $749. At the $1k range, a C2 is the best you're going to get with the Xebex 3.0 not far behind.

lastly, if you are not in that budget, the sub $500 rowers are all garbage, even for the most recreational/intermittent user. The money would be better spent on an airbike if you want maximum cardio for dollar.

I can't speak to this rower exactly, but a concept2 uses only air resistance. Magnetic resistance adds more 'weight' than air, but may less natural as opposed to a true rowing experience. I have a bodycraft offbrand (Questa) that I paid $500 for, new, that is air and magnetic. I love it as it the right balance of smooth and difficult since I like to push myself for 8 to 10 minute sessions, not 30-40 continuous. I am not a rower and enjoy the strength training aspect of rowing as much as the cardio.
Before saying "C2 or die" try a magnetic out, but think about how you'd like to use your rower and what you want to get out of your workout.

I own a Concept 2, and after trying out some of these other rowers in stores, there really is no comparison. I have had some friends try to pull max wattage on the machine, and it always has more to give. The same cannot be said about all magnetic resistance machines (sometimes if you're too strong you can break through the resistance).

C2 stands behind their products, and will sell you every single part on the rower, if needed.

I have a buddy who uses the Concept2 and said no other brand is comparable to it. That's the one you want if you row daily and want to make it part of your daily routine.
Which concept 2? There's so many varieties

Kinda been looking for a rowing machine, they are supposed to be really good for posture/back muscles which I need. My main worry is the Seats on these rower machines always look small and uncomfortable.

Just fyi, local Costco have the Proform Sport RL rower back in stock for $399. That rower caused a stir last year with the price and was snapped up promptly. There are a couple (2) stacked up on the shelve. Yes, the Costco Proform rower includes 1 year iFit membership.

I think the Proform and this NordicTrak are made by the same manufacturer in China.

They have it in several Costco in the San Diego, CA area. The Sport RL model is not listed on the Proform website. The Costco Proform has a basic display similar to the RW200, but supposedly you can use a bluetooth tablet with iFit as the main display screen. The one listed on the Costco website has a built-in screen and that seems to be a good price too.

Same thing happened to mine but just inside the warranty period. New "motherboard"; broke 3 months later; next repair only lasted about 4 months and final break down was just outside the warranty period. It was taken to the dump a year ago. There's great reviews on YT, one dude, dark horse row, breaks it down pretty good. If you're looking for cardio and lower body work, a rower is for you. If your looking for a similar unit but cardio and upper body, then a ski-erg is for you.

Am I the only person who doesn't like the concept2? It's likely user error, but my only experience with them (twice on different occasions/locations) has been awful. The chain would jump or skip every couple of pulls. It was too distracting to "get lost" in the workout.
Probably an unmaintained rower, they occasionally need oil on the chain. Every 50 hours of use they say. If it's not taken care of it could happen. I've had my concept 2 for 10 years and never had an issue.

No go outside and deal with nature. This is unnatural and will build muscle in areas you don't want.

A bunch of concept2 rowers is on a secondary market in the $600-$700 range with the ridiculous mileages. I've just got mine with 4 miles on it.

Take it from a competitive rower of 20 years, get the Concept 2. Nothing else compares, lasts as long, or is as proven.
