Avoid. While a good deal they make garbage. Had their top end Eliptical that died inside of three months. They apparently got tired of sending the repair man and sent another entire Eliptical. It was very evident it was redesigned with much thinner metal and was physically smaller despite being the same model. Shocker, right outside of warranty it died as well. I'll never buy another product of their. There are only two rowers you could consider, Conecpt2 or Waterrower. I bought a City Row branded waterpower but you can buy a plain Jane directily from them for as low as $900. It's wood and plastic, nothing to break. Take care of it and it will last decades. No magnetic resistance crap to break on you. Also can check Facebook or Craigs list for used ones in your area.

I have direct experience with the C2, Xebex 3.0 and RW200/500.

A C2 and Xebex 2.0 or 3.0 are the most comparable for price, performance, value and longevity. My RW500 lasted exactly 15 minutes before the magnetic resistance disc failed. It took me 6 weeks to return it. NordicTrack was a nightmare to deal with.

If you are willing to spend $600, I would highly consider t he Xebex 2.0 non-smart connect for $749. At the $1k range, a C2 is the best you're going to get with the Xebex 3.0 not far behind.

lastly, if you are not in that budget, the sub $500 rowers are all garbage, even for the most recreational/intermittent user. The money would be better spent on an airbike if you want maximum cardio for dollar.

Did you hear about Hydrow?
This machine is the apple of rowers. Its the peloton of Rower too. Check the website, its costly but totally worth the built and durability.

Do not buy. Bought one earlier this year for $690 and the wife and I were very unhappy. It worked out our fore arms way more the gym/concept 2 ones. Ended up selling it and buy a used Concept 2 for $800, night and day difference in quality too. My advice is to buy a used Concept 2.

Looking on the concept2 website, their rower seems to be $900. If it's really that much better, then why not pay the extra 300 to get it?

It is a good rowerand while some of them may be defective initially you will eventually get the parts and service to set them up properly. This offer is really not a great price because it's a base model without a tablet and it is also no longer a current model. If you want the budget model go with pro-form which is essentially the same thing with a different logo

Exactly. I got on the wait list early on in the pandemic and got mine a few months later. 900 bucks and it is an awesome machine.

A bunch of concept2 rowers is on a secondary market in the $600-$700 range with the ridiculous mileages. I've just got mine with 4 miles on it.
Yeah! I previously had a gym membership just to row on the C2 (and do a bit of bouldering) - have been monitoring prices since everything shut down and they're definitely starting to come down. I finally bought one in April for $700 with about 40km and just saw another for the same here in Southern California. They were like $1100 most of the pandemic.

No go outside and deal with nature. This is unnatural and will build muscle in areas you don't want.
??? A full body pulling motion is about as natural as it gets, but you're right, who wants strong legs and posterior chain

I watched quite some videos on youtube, and most of them used concept 2. Friends around also recommended concept 2. So if money is not an issue, concept 2 seems the way to go. Used c2 can sell for a good price so overall it's a good choice.

I bought one in the end and it is really good.

Just fyi, local Costco have the Proform Sport RL rower back in stock for $399. That rower caused a stir last year with the price and was snapped up promptly. There are a couple (2) stacked up on the shelve. Yes, the Costco Proform rower includes 1 year iFit membership.

I think the Proform and this NordicTrak are made by the same manufacturer in China.

This guys review turned me off the Costco Proform.

Bear in mind for the actual people that use these types of equipment and are giving advice about things like this, remember that 90% of us will either use these types of equipment very little or never after the initial phase. LOL
I have a neighbor that moved in 9 months ago, he's had a brand new Hydrow in the box in the garage for the same amount of time. I'd gladly help him move it and set it up so I can at least check it out and see if I like it.

[C2] chain would jump or skip every couple of pulls. It was too distracting to "get lost" in the workout.
Gyms are awful about maintaining their C2 rowers, but they are solid machines, replacement parts are cheap, they're easy to properly maintain, and their support is phenomenal.

Another thing I like about C2 is its community. I've enjoyed rowing "competitively" by ranking my rows against others in my age/weight worldwide, and there are close-knit support groups on FB and other sites. I also like that they give you a free t-shirt at 1M meters and other significant milestones (also got a marathon pin). It's pretty sweet to row 620 miles and get a free shirt to commemorate it. Smilie I've logged over 8.5 million meters and it's been a great machine for getting/keeping fit. Because of this, even if I found a better rower, it would be hard for me to leave C2.

I find it is not great for my back after about 12-15 minutes on a C2. Haven't had surgery, but have some disc desiccation and a couple small osteophytes. After a few months with rowing added in, I switched back to only free weights to work full body/the posterior chain and just keep the rep count down.
