Not true at all. That's the review I read too, but I bought it for the kitchen so i didn't really care, after measuring it in REW, the bass response (lower extension is Completely flat) no boom whatsoever. It doesn't have alot of sub 30hz, but there is absolutely no sharp spot where one could say it's boomy.

Deal of the century! No, wait - millennium! I, too, am grateful for the Slick Deals dot Net website.
there have been several postings from several retailers for this exact product at this exact price. so hardy a deal at all (Let alone deal of century).

Wow, correct you are! In fact this is so cheap, it is among the best prices ever on this sub. This will sound great to the vast majority of people. So glad this got posted to slick deals! By the way you talk, you should be able to post this cheaper from somewhere else, no?
just because something is cheap it does not mean it is good or worth buying. just see the comment in this thread about how boomy and muddy this sub is. if you only have $150 to spend you should be looking at a better used subwoofer. this one has been this price for a while based on previous SD posts.

I mean do you want to continue to prove my point? Did you find a widely available cheaper one? Or is 150 pretty much it? I never said this is a once in a lifetime opportunity lol just that this sub at this price would be a good buy for people. tbh I wouldn't listen to your advice, because the only place I see you are in Klipsch/adorama/iconian threads shitting on all of it but never giving any actual advice, except "don't buy Klipsch".

It's like you have a bone to pick that is personal. Always thread crapping...

Yea if you notice people love to correlate that like somehow it tells anyone if it's a deal good or not to anyone!

They tell you to look at A COMMENT as proof, yet skips the COMMENT that say the opposite! 🙄

Tells you "cheap" doesn't mean it's good but then says "cheap" means it's not good!🙄

They show "expired" post and because how often that deal comes up somehow makes it not a deal. 🙄

Yet for any other brand and or poster it's ok and everyone considers it a deal(ie infinity/JBL)! 🙄

This or the BIC America F12?
The Bic F-12 tends to get better reviews then this Klipsch but ya don't get the pretty orange cone that some people like.

BIC America F12. Even the Dayton Audio SUB-1200 is a better choice than this sub. If you go to parts-express and use coupon code PREFR1 you can get the Dayton Audio SUB-1200 for the same $150 price.

Hey audio guys. What do you think about two cheapo subs (klipsch, infinity, etc) vs one rsl speedwoofer?

normally quality is a better choice over quantity. the advantage to one "better" sub is that it should provide better frequency response (i.e. go deeper) and that is one of the main differentiation points in buying better subs.

with subs there is a potential for better overall performance from a listening position standpoint if you have a difficult room with uneven bass response. IF you set the subs up properly (Not everyone will be able to do this easily or be able to based on allowable sub locations) then you may be able to smooth out some of the peaks or nulls in your space.

i am all too glad to help individuals here on SD by discussing their individual needs via messaging and not bogging down other peoples threads.

i'm disappointed that you don't follow all of my posts, but only the klipsch ones. when a deal is truly worthwhile i have no issue "promoting" it (Not to the level of the iconian / adorama advertisements on here). there are MANY SD folks posting the same thing that SD has bias and promotes their own profit agenda over actual deals and there are many sheep here that quickly follow.

this same product has been advertised here many times the past few months for the same exact price from many retailers. so consider it a realistic street price and not slick deal.

as i already stated, just because something is cheap, does not make it good or worth buying. there are plenty of sub-$150 subs out there, just check amazon or any other retailer. yamaha, polk, sony, jbl, dayton (Many here prefer that) or even DIY. a quick local used market search in my area shows many excellent / far better subs for under $200 (Asking price) so likely can be purchased for about the same as this model. if you really need me to post direct links i will, but i trust you can successfully search amazon

my opinion is based on 30+ years of working doing AV / Home theater installations. when i come across good products i recommend them. when i come across low end boomy / muddy / inaccurate subwoofers (That are CONSTANTLY being posted here) i have no issue stating it. my reputation both professionally and my SD reputation speaks for itself in having helped MANY SD members navigate the waters of home theater equipment and providing FREE basic consultation via SD messaging. are you doing the same? just beware there are literally a ton of SD members with zero real world professional experience. as an individual you are free to take their advice if you choose.
Tldr: What is the cheapest laziest system I can buy to get a deep rumbling movie theater ish experience without having to turn it up too loud?

So, I could use some help. I have the klipsch, 2.1 I got for $70. I think they sound great, but you have to turn them up too loud to feel the bass, and I worry they will break.

I had the Edifiers bookshelf speakers for $100. I thought they sounded clear, but no subwoofer, so I returned them and kept the klipsh 2.1, which I feel are less clear, but provide bass with the subwoofer. For $70, if feels like a steal.

I am looking for a subwoofer or speaker set that can give me that movie theater rumbling sound/feeling without having to have the volume uncomfortably loud.

I see this subwoofer here all the time, but people keep saying it sucks. I know nothing about this stuff.

Also, can I run a sub without a receiver? And just use a cheap amp on Amazon? I have a 2.1 amp with a subwoofer output. No idea what wattage I am supposed to get. It uses 12V at 3A, so I know its only 36 watts.

You've gotta spend over $1000+ if you want movie theater like bass. You would need 2 at least of them as well and they are very very big so you also require the space. I bought a SVS PB2000 pro for $800 and that is still considered budget. To me it sounds amazing and movies are awesome but you still won't quite get that movie theater bass but you'll get the home-theater bass which is still great.

there are a lot of variables to consider when answering your question. rather than bog down this thread with info specific to your situation, just message me and we can work through your specific needs to get you the most for your budget.

It doesnt need to be a long discussion. Just a pointing in the right direction.

I am not an audiophile.

Some simple recommendations would do. For example, a replacement recommendation for this subwoofer in its price range, and if I can use my current amp to run it.

For reference, I had. my wife buy a $130 no name brand 2.1 bluetooth system from amazon with a 6" subwoofer. it sounds okay, but it starts to distort when you turn it up.It sounds junky and muddy to me. But, it is miles better than the tv speakers. Is there an equivalent to that for the next level up?

I think it would be helpful to others to post it here too.

I feel like there has to be something inbetween.

For example, tv speakers suck right? The klipsch 2.1 sound amazing compared to it. Id wager, the 12" subwoofer in this post, is probably way better than the 6.5" sub that comes with the klipsch speakers. There has to be something inbetween $70 to $1,000 that you mention. I just have no idea what is good. I just want something that will be a step up from $70. Which sound great. And I never put them past like 1/4 volume for more than a few minutes cuz they are too loud.

I am not an audiophile.
