Just an FYI - AQ Textiles was sued recently for misrepresenting the thread count of their sheets.

High thread counts doesn't necessarily = high quality sheets. And many companies misrepresent or lie about their thread counts anyways.

Bought these in February and have been very happy with them. Have washed weekly and no pilling or shedding, they have a nice light texture to them. Picked up another set for backup this week too. They were a little thick/stiff to start with but softened up after a few washes.

Yeah, but that reviewer might have been a shill planting the idea that the sheets aren't the thin cheap kind. Only one reviewer made any kind of reference to them being thick, that I saw.

Time will tell, I ordered 2. I have a trigger finger to make the return if the sheets suck.

It's getting harder and harder to do good research.
I'm a shill who has been on this site since 2007 and I know how to find a great deal. I'm a long time Macy's shopper who is also very picky about sheets. I also have expensive taste Smilie

You appear to be a doubting Thomas.

Was it this exact product, or a similar one? Another user reports these being "thick/stiff" which confiicts with your report.

If you see thread counts over 400 in 100% cotton sheets they are using shorter length cotton threads that are two or more threads twisted together to get the high thread counts. Quality 100% cotton sheets are long staple or extra long staple in a single ply (thread). For example I bought 400 thread count 100% organic cotton percale sheets and they cost $80 a set and that is on the low side as far as price goes.

Go try out kirkland sheets (680) count. Yes they are $90 but I'd happily pay $120+ for them,( got them in sale last year for $60.most notably the surefit edges STAY IN PLACE, we let our dogs on the bed and every time other sheets fly right off... Not these. Not to mention that their 680 count feels like high quaulty and hotel like, they sleep cool which is a must for me, plus 4 bed sheets! Not to mention they where made with CA USA cotton, I don't really care but they are nice! I wasn't too crazy about bed sheets but now I won't buy any other knowing theses blow all these cheapy kohl's, Walmart ones etc away

I recently bought a mattress that is supposed to keep you "cool" but would wake up feeling like I was sleeping on a hot plate. Went back to the store and the salesman asked me what the thread count on my sheets were. I told him they were a high thread count (over 900 currently I believe) to which he claimed that was why. He insisted that I only needed about a 300 thread count. Anyone else heard about a high thread count affecting the heat of your mattress? I figured higher meant finer fibers, which translated to more breathability. Fortunately, I found a mattress topper that dialed down the temps a bit. I'll be curious to see how this count affects my sleep.
He is right, the higher the thread count the more it holds the heat, the lesser thread count the more it can breath which keeps you cool.

Just got mine, and man do they smell weird. I guess maybe they've been wrapped in the stinky plastic for so long. I might have to wash them twice.

Not sure what you said. Are you saying you are literally a pro shill who knows how to find great deal, or was that sarcasm?

I hope you aren't an evil shill, because I received mine and like them.

My description of product:

For the last several years I've been using thin sheets. These Macy's sheets (I got queen size) are much thicker than the ones I've been using, yet still thin. They have a weight to them, and when I try to stretch the material they don't budge much. I'm not an expert but I think this means they are good quality. They have a hotel sheet feel and vibe. The edges seems are doubled up with material giving that hotel like seam. And the stitching seems strong. They do have a funny smell to them. My working assumption is it's a manufacture smell, or possibly they are old-stock, and will go away after a wash or two.

I think the basic lie these companies do is claim double the thread because they twist together 2 shorter treads to make 1 thread long enough for sheet lengths, then make a, say 400 thread sheet out of that and call it 800 thread. I gather that's better than a real 800 thread because they are so thin and weak, but not as good as a 'true' 400 thread sheet made from stronger single threads. I could be wrong on any point here. This is what I currently believe based a composite of things I've read.

I usually ignore the flat sheet that comes with a set. Simply use a fitted sheet and blanket. I like the flat sheets that come with this Macy's set. I'm using one as a summer blanket right now. High thread sheets make you hotter, but the flat sheet is much thinner than a normal cover. If I didnt have air conditioning I'd probably use a more breathable sheet, yet still use the Macys flat sheet as a summer blanket.

These sheets seem to be a steal. The only tragedy would be if they disintegrated from washings. I have no evidence of that, just a worry, because I like them and bought 5 sets for a long term solution to good bed sheets. They have a 90 day return policy. So I will wash one set of these sheets a lot over the next 60 days or so and see if there are any unforeseeable quality problems.

Oh, also, some of the reviews said the queen size of Macy's set comes with pillow cases that barely fit a standard pillow. The one I received comes with full sized queen 30" pillow cases.

Thanks for your honest review. I'm still waiting for mine, but after reading your review I think I'll like them.

Sarcasm and excited about a deal. Was confused why I was being called a shill, like I was on this site to give fake reviews, and making up the thickness of these sheets. Which I found funny. I just really liked those sheets enough to buy another set. The damn sheets were so thick the first couple of weeks they were noisy when moving around at night. Much better after softening up after a few washes. I am pretty sure the reviewer who called these thin did not get these sheets. No way. laugh out loud

Definition of shill is a swindler which I am not laugh out loud
